That video sure is helpful :)
My tips:
1) Don't expect anything to go quickly to begin with. Well, in truth to begin with levels fly by, but don't be put off when that skill you were levelling up every 5 minutes suddenly takes 10, 20, 30 minutes to get to the next stage. This can get boring, particularly as levels start to take over an hour to obtain, so make sure you add variety to your skilling and combat
2) Do not simply ask "How can I make money?". If you ask "How can I make money with fletching", players will probably be more helpful because you specified how you wish to make money. Just asking an ambiguous question leads to ambiguous answers.
3) Take advantage of every Distraction & Diversion you can. Although most are available to only members, there are some great activities which will grant useful rewards such as experience, items to use when skilling, and even some cool aesthetic items to make your character look awesome
4) Quests are your friends. Not only are most of them fun, but quite often they provide you with an experience reward which would have taken longer than the duration of the quest to obtain, or would have been too expensive to train. If you're stuck for experience in a skill for those two reasons, do a quest which gives that experience, or even better, a quest which gives a magic lamp of ANY SKILL! :D
5) Don't be an idiot; we have enough of these already. If you're nice to people, people are most likely to be nice back, or at least not start raging at you for being annoying
6) Use fansites and these forums to your advantage. They can be invaluable for finding the answers to a quest or puzzle, gaining training tips, or even calculating how much of an item you need to reach the next level using fansite calculators
7) Join a clan, or find some friends. The clan discussions I have in my clan are what keeps me going on those long skilling trips, and you'll always have someone to help you out if you're stuck.
Good luck in RuneScape!

Tip 1:
The tip my sons gave me when I first started playing, over 10 years ago, was "Stay on the paths Mum!" (helped stop me getting lost).
Tip 2:
Get your game/life balance right. If your school work, or family, or work is being short-changed because of a game, you are doing it wrong. This is a game, so try not to take it all too seriously, and have fun! :)
Tip 3:
Common sense and respect are the two most important tools in your tool belt. Engage those, then log in. ;)

EDIT: *looks at post above. Looks at tip 3*

@brutha loves post "edit" the teleport tab not ardougne one. You wont be able to use until plague city quest is completed. Tablets dont require mage lvl but, in additon to no mage lvl needed u also dont gain xp from tablets either.

My tip: Don't forget to ask people for help. If you want to go complete a quest, ask someone who has already completed the quest for help and guidance. ^_^
Yak's favorite 'helper'; Rune Bar Slave, and a proud 120 Miner

Dont be shy! Feel free to ask anyone for help in game and forums! Im sure people will help you out! No matter what it is!
Second of all, follow the rules! Dont scam and be friendly to each other!
Scamming can happen on runescape, if there is something which seems too good to be true, just ignore them and report using report system.
You also might wanna do some quests, tasks or join a clan!
EDIT: You should also balance the amount of time you play and you might wanna play some of the awesome minigame's runescape has to offer! Its a great chance to meet others and play with them, while making friends!
