Lol, I remember being new, didn't know what to do first.
So, one of the first things you should do is quest, simple ones. Once they are done, you can earn yourself some xp for training your skills!
The second thing you should do is train in a money making skill, like woodcutting or mining, beacuse extra gold always helps.
The third thing you should do is make sure to always ask for help if you need it, or don't know what to do. Everyone was new at one point, so they will most likely understand.
And the last thing is always have fun! do what you find fun, don't do something you don't want to, so if you don't like training in non-combat skills, then go ahead and train on combat skills only!
Well, these are my tips. Enjoy your time in the awesome world of Runescape!

Hi new players! Welcome to Runescape! I hope my tip is read by at least 1 lucky newcomer!
#1 Take the time to learn from Jagex's Tutorial Island. The basics are covered there.
#2 As a "Nooblet" I recommend you train! Kill some goblins, chickens, and cows, but be careful! Don't forget to pick up coins, meat, and cook them near fires, take spares as you will burn quite a few at first.
#3 Never give up. The key to being a good player on Runescape is NOT playing 24 hours a day. Set goals, take breaks, be consistent. Take a vacation off runescape when you get tired of playing and have some fun outside or find something else to do. Rest assured your account is saved in progress and will be waiting for the next time you feel like adventuring!
#4 Save your money. Every little bit adds up, fortunately, items do not cost as much to new players, so it will be easily affordable when you begin, but you must train and earn your money. Working on skills not related to combat is an excellent way to polish your skills and earn GOOD money.
#5 Be courteous, polite, and have fun. Report Players only as necessary, don't fight back, it's not worth it. Add annoying adventurers to ignore. If you just remember to have fun, you could be selected as a Player Moderator, which is no unfair advantage, but it shows you're a respectable good player! Even if you aren't selected, enjoy the game, make friends, and avoid problems. We all have feelings.
