Is the system overloaded or broken right now? I tried to change my name to something and it said it wasn't available, despite the name not being taken. Adding it to my friend's list results in the message "Unable to add friend - unknown player" and it isn't on the high scores. It doesn't contain any combination of letters that would be banned for any reason.

I have a feeling that it's just not allowed for some unknown reason. :(

So you only want to change the name if you see it's been cleaned and put on a list? The name cleanup-system was originally invented for people who wanted that one special name for years, but couldn't because it was taken. If you're just bored of your name you should think of a new one and then try to grab it, what you're doing now is trying to snipe a name that has no value to you but you still want it because you just want something cool to show to your friends. Removing the list was the best decision they made. Think of a name first next time and then try to grab it, not the other way around.

There's no need/reason to change your name if you like the one you already have. :)

I've had this name for at least a few years (don't even remember how long exactly lol) and I've grown quite used to it. Some players change their names regularly and others may have never changed their name in 15 years - it all boils down to personal preference.

Thanks for taking one of my accounts names. So many people sitting on names that never play but have the intention of selling. So instead you snipe a name from one of my accounts. This was meant to be from accounts that had little to no xp. Not for inactives. This is a crock of crap. Now that name is gone forever. Makes me regret renewing my membership this year.

EDIT: The account that Jagex stole the name from had well over 1m xp on it. I guess it's cool to take MY name and give it to someone else. It's horse s***. This system should have NEVER happened at least not to accounts that have some substantial amount of XP on it. Do you intend to do this to everyone who takes time away from this game? What's funny is that you left the name on another account of mine that hasn't been playing for the same amount of time - hell I better log onto it today to make sure you don't snipe that name. Liars and cheats.
