Speaking of which - aren't we still running on a game with an essentially ancient server?

Any plans to re-make RuneScape's server on a separate game, using the NXT client?

Wasn't the NXT client designed for this specific purpose? It's taking so long and requires a number of betas because we're moving away from that ancient server.

NXT is a client update, not a server one.
The best way to re-make the server would mean starting off with very little content, and building up content on-top over a long period of time.

I understand exactly why potential investors are knocking on our door!
Investment != Aquisition and we've seen both terms used so far; is it possible to clarify which of the two this would involve?

The deal involves 100% shares buyout. It is full acquisition. I think the JMod needs to keep their wording in check.

I don't like it. It doesn't matter how much PR work is put into making the community feel comfortable with this, the end result is that when they have full ownership of the company they can do whatever they want with development. If they want to make MTX, it doesn't matter what Jagex's current stance is, MTX will happen.

People lie in business and politics all the time. If Jagex is acquired by a Chinese investor the chances are RS will go downhill even more than it did under IVP's shareholders.

It's not worth the sum they're offering for ownership of Jagex and it doesn't take a genius to deduce that for someone to invest such a large amount that they have an idea of how to make the company more successful in a business sense.

what I would worry about is what the Chinese government calls gold farming. this is a practice where people would play games for points, then use the points to buy items, which they would then sell (often to the same people) for real money.

in this game they would farm things like wood and then buy bonds, which they would sell to the people in charge for real Chinese money. that got some games shut down in China a few years ago. frankly my dear, I couldn't give a dam. never had a river to build one on.
