Personally, I see the whole thing like this:
Starting with the positives, I think that opening up to the Eastern market will allow for a larger audience in China and other countries in that part of the world, which will mean a larger income for both Jagex and therefore their new "Father Company", as I would put it, should the choose to buy membership, bonds, keys for TH and Runecoins for Solomon's. Making the community larger also allows for divides in cultures to be bridged, making the world a more social place.
Moving on to the negatives, or basically my personal concerns. I personally think that the essence of the game will be lost. What I mean by that is that, as seen with many Eastern RPGs, none in particular, have a generic feel to them, at least from the ones I've seen. Next year, the game could (not saying it will) be very different from how it is now, depending on how much influence the new "father company" have. I really hope that Jagex, as a game studio stay in the UK, and don't forget where the game originated from in terms of its originality.
Now, I'm not trying to promote scare-mongering, doomsaying or anything like that, and I do adapt to change with relative ease. This game has meant a lot to me growing up and I would love to see its continued survival.
