This is a very specific question, it wasn't ignored it just isn't possible to answer yet. As per the answers above though, it is unlikely that a new owner would influence our decision on this topic.

Isn't this actually a legal issue for some countries?
Pretty sure you'd need notice upon registration that prices may vary through subscription.

That's what you expect, but if Jagex as a whole is bought, isn't it true that the new owners can do whatever they want? Of course you guys don't want anything to change (in a game-breaking way, I mean). But once you've been bought by another company, can't they just tell you to do whatever they want you to?

Well, you get those in charge of Jagex, but further down the chain you get people who manage specific games and the teams within.

So they could possibly replace these people (which would be pretty sketchy), but doubt the structure would allow for direct changes - only some influence upon those people.

The two things I worried about has been answered. It is good to know that the HQ is staying in the UK and this mining company will have no voice in the game development. As long as the majority of the game's contents stay European Medieval Age, I'm happy to play.

I don't really know how to feel about it.

The more cynical side of me says all those kneejerk things, like even more micro-transactions, and investor meddling with the direction of the game. And of course more than a few 'selling out' claims for a game that's miraculously still alive after all this time, some even more cynical than I would say it's already in decline, and this whole acquisition is just a way out for Jagex.

The most optimistic side of me however, wants to believe all the extra resources from an acquisition can benefit the game, and it's current players. What that potential is exactly? I have no clue, but it would hopefully be enough to make me want to end my current hiatus.

From an opportunity standpoint, it's a heck of a lot of money, but I'd be very suspect about being acquired by undoubted interloper to the video game's industry, and also belongs to a country which is not positively associated with high-quality gaming trends.

This is great news and I agree with this. After becoming informed I can live with this change.

Thrilled to see most of my questions have been answered. Like I said in the original acquisition post if this can result in a positive impact for Runescape along with the company of Jagex I am all for it. Having been a Veteran of Runescape and a believer in Jagex since 2001, I feel a greater sense of satisfication, and delight after reading through your post about what is going on in the minds of the community. I will be looking forward to further information in the future regarding this acquisition, and we thank you for keeping us updated along the way more than you may know.

just hoping we do not see a repeat of the past. i highly enjoy oldschool. the MTX is kind of relieving but all of the questions seemed to me to be not 100% answered. We do not anticipate this, we do not see that happening etc. no clear cut answers.
