Numerous people in the thread have mentioned relocating the entire company to China.

No one said any of the languages or systems are hard to learn, it's simply a matter of spending the time learning them. And time is money.

And for all we know it's a part of the deal that they have to teach new staff how to do what they've been doing.

I would just like to mention that even if a company is sold, that doesn't mean the new owners can do whatever they like with it. More often than not, there are stipulations in the purchase agreement which limit certain activities. For example, a common occurrence in the software development sector are non-competition clauses. This is part of the purchase agreement between the two parties that prevents the seller from producing any competing software for a specified amount of time. If part of the purchase agreement of Jagex is that the company remain UK based, then the purchaser has no say in the matter, they cannot relocate the company for however long is specified in the purchase agreement.

@ angel, your saying we a wrong because we cant know all the information, and then you go on to make your claims. Which would be wrong by your own logic as you don't know all the information. That why its exactly a double standard.

Even if that were part of the purchase agreement, you still can't force anyone to undertake the task. If the entire Jagex staff is told that they're being laid off in a month, and that during the month they will be required to teach their replacements how to use the systems/languages, I would imagine not a lot of the developers would stick around for the month. I imagine they would most likely use their time more wisely and seek out new employment.
