Great to hear that not much will be changing. It would be horrible if this new corporation came in and messed up everything that makes the game great :s

I personally have faith in Jagex and their management, and trust they will make the right decision and continue to develop RuneScape in a way that makes it one of the best games in the world. Kappa

I wish Jagex could take themselves private again and out of the control of other entities. It is just really hard to do with lack of capital and cash without taking on a big mountain of debt that would be hard to pay off. *sigh*

Jagex hasn't been financially up to what it once was in a long time (if the numbers floating around are true).

Jagex has just posted it's most successful year - ever! I won't disclose or discuss financial information, but we have had a sensational year, and I understand exactly why potential investors are knocking on our door!

That's really fascinating and great to hear. Just want to let you know we really appreciate this communication.

We still haven't heard one word from the new CEO since his appointment

Interestingly, Mod Rod was instrumental in helping us put these answers together and helped make sure these answers were consistent with what was actually going on with the discussions.

Rod's position has always been that the game development studio is doing a fantastic job and has a sensible strategy and so has not felt the need to get too involved. He trusts us enough to communicate with you guys in ways we think are appropriate - which personally, I really value.

I think Rod's stance is indicative of how Jagex will continue to be run; leaving the game development to the experts!
Well there you go :O

Just how you say that will probably mean a lot to the community. When the boss stops talking, it usually sounds like either he's not concerned about player level judgement or he's not worried about his direction massively changing a game dynamic. Deferring to game talent for game updates is the most comforting way to work and I can't describe how good it is to hear that.

It's the same kind of worry we have with Hongda. 100% stake is more game studio throttling than investing in a profiting brand (buying a majority share), so "what plan do they have for their products" comes up again. Everyone hopes if it goes through that they'll still defer to you guys though it's unlikely when they take such an odd, aggressive move.

Backtracking, thanks a ton for that feedback, I'll take it as an update :P

That's great to hear, but there are reports about this mining company to have an unsuccessful history, and is in fact going through debt. Wouldn't it be risky to consider their offer if they are not financially stable?

Speaking of which - aren't we still running on a game with an essentially ancient server?

Any plans to re-make RuneScape's server on a separate game, using the NXT client?

Wasn't the NXT client designed for this specific purpose? It's taking so long and requires a number of betas because we're moving away from that ancient server.

Sounds good! I've seen some cynicism like "JAGEX IS DOOMED" by pointing to numbers, but it really doesn't seem like people understand the big picture. I trust you guys are keeping up the success, so congratulations.

What's worried me is that Shadong Hongda is described as "lossmaking". Maybe it's not as bad as I think, and those losses could be made up for, but I'm not necessarily concerned with Jagex's financial status lately. My concern is whether or not Shadong's status may affect Jagex somehow.
