rather interesting that china would come investing in RS when that's where the gold farmers live. does the word ironic fit here?

You do realise that this is very close to being racist. Just because they are Chinese does NOT make them gold farmers.

It's an observation based upon location, not of the people.
A firm located in the country known for a high amount of gold-farming activity happen to be looking to purchase a game in which it occurs.

Depends if that was the intention of the player or not. But as we cant work out intention from just that information I was letting them know that they need to be careful with their wording. Associating a negative trait to people based on where they come from is racism.

Good grief Tclcis stop being so sanctimonious.

They guy said 'China' not 'Chinese people'. And it is an indisputable fact that there is a great deal of gold-farming activity emanating in China.

Cat, that's why I posted here and not forum help. What they said was not racist, but was very close to being such.

People say racist things all the time without meaning to. A reminder that they need to be careful how they phrase it does not do any harm. Racist comments do.

^ This basically,

He's correct in pointing out unneeded slurs. There is a lot of hate that is completely out of line and uncalled for and many people just say it because of nationalist or political views that are acceptable in the country they live in.

The fact is that there are tons of Chinese enterprises that have taken ownership of many Western companies, and those companies continue to function under the laws and regulations of the respective countries they operate in. Please read up on how international laws work on businesses. There are loads of US corporations that have been legally acquired by Chinese organizations and still operate in the US under US staff and under US laws.

You can apply the same with Jagex being taken over by some Chinese corporation. I find it hard to assume that someone knowing nothing will start fiddling with a goose that lays golden eggs for them, not until they know how it works and that will take quite some time.

Negative speculation against every business in China attempting to expand legally, needlessly trying to relate them to something illegal is somewhat childish and a form of berating, or belittling.

Yes. What they said was not racist. You admit as much.
There was no need to admonish the poster.

There is also no onus on you - or anyone else - to issue reminders about racism. You are no one's moral compass.

If a post is truly racist then it should be reported to FH and it will be dealt with.

Quantum, those fears are unfounded. This is an investment company, they are going to leave the running of the game to Jagex. I suggest not paying attention to the misreporting of the clickbait sites such as financial times. The article that you quote indirectly is sensationalist journalism that misrepresents the facts just to get people into reading it.

You (or anyone, at this point) can't really claim that any fears are actually unfounded because at this point every single 'fear' in this matter is founded (rock solidly founded) on the information available at this time.

You do seem to need some clarification though. The 'investors' that either have already, or are in talks to now, sold jagex to a China based mining company should not be confused with the Chinese mining company that plan on (or already have completed) acquiring jagex.

Investors are likely to leave the company alone and insist on profits being made. Their only interest is making money by investing money. When there's not enough of that.. they sell out.

In this case, to a China based mining company who are certainly NOT investors (though they're investing in a company called jagex) in the sense that Insight is an investment company.

No, the mining company are owners and.. that age old RS adage will continue to hold true (for the mining company if/when they become the owners). You remember it?

It's THEIR game and they can do what they want!

We currently have IVP influencing the game with Treasure Hunter MTX being puked out every Friday to Sunday and now we'll have another tainted influence from a mining company in Shanghai.

Things will start out nice and good, then they will slowly get more sour.

Squeal of Fortune was "free" for a month.
Squeal of Fortune then went pay-2-win.
Squeal of Fortune/Treasure Hunter then started with promotions
Treasure Hunter Promotions became harder to win prizes lasting a lot shorter.

China will let you "think" your running the company.
China will then want you to "change this" and "change that".
China will then demand you to "change this" and "change that".
China will then demand offices be moved to ... China.

I'm sick of my money going to ******* China!
Jagex 2019 New Year Resolution... MTX our customers until RS3 SERVER SHUTDOWN PARTY!
The RS3 Community is treated like :@ RUBBISH :@ due to constant TH promotions.

Don't buy keys on Treasure Hunter, if you do Jagex will only make more TH promotions :(
