This is a sensitive subject, and it raises a number of issues.
One source of concern is that there is a genre of online games, many of which were developed by Chinese companies, that push players to spend money. I think it's reasonable to say there's no reason to panic because of this; that just because investors happen to be Chinese, that doesn't mean they're going to want to tamper with the success of RuneScape in order to follow a different business model.
But another source of concern is that the People's Republic of China has come under criticism for human-rights violations, and that it has come into conflict with the foreign policy of the United States and its NATO allies.
Thus, even if it may be regarded as paranoid, the concern is that any new owners of Jagex who were physically located in China would not have a choice about fully cooperating with Chinese intelligence services. And so, if a number of people living in, say, Roanoke, Virginia, say in clan chat that they had to miss a bossing session because they didn't get enough sleep because of trucks rumbling through their neigbourhoods... the location of a new missile silo is disclosed or some such thing.
