[...] however, none of them are equal to Jagex selling the game.

Jagex isn't selling the game, the company itself is being sold. Runescape will still be owned and developed by Jagex. The only thing that's changing is the investors.

They horse is not changed. They just change the jockey. The direction of the horse may change, but the abilities and potentials of the horse remain there.

I never said how much money one player spends or doesn't spend matter much. If you don't spend, fine. I also did not spend a penny this year, I used Bonds, although I have been a paid member since the earliest date when subscription was started over 10 years ago. Happy now?

Also, don't get upset over a company selling itself to another. When you buy a stock, you don't expect yourself to hold it for life, right? Business turnover is normal. It all started with the Gowers selling part of Jagex to other investors, then came IVP and others, and now Honda.

Don't worry so much since you only started membership in Feb 2016. Canceling membership about 1 month of membership already? And you made only 4 posts altogether including this one.

No you didn't say it mattered, you insinuated it.

As for the company, between 2010 and 2016 the game has changed to the point RS is no longer recognizable, hence the reason for OS. I play both because I can relate to both. The reason for the changes: Jagex is owned my someone other than the creator. Whoever has majority control, makes the creative decisions. This is evident in all the game changes during the last 6 years.

I did not say I would never p2p again. I said I am worried, and will not P2P until I know what it is going to turn into. If they target Chines players, the game its self with change drastically. I assume because they talked about the potential market, they will be marketing to the Chines population, who by the way, have a completely different cultural view than most of the players on here, that will change game content.

Next point, in 2008 many players quit, leaving fewer core players on this game. If the content added or taken from the game causes more people to quit, you have a good chance of losing your core players, and that in its self will change the game.

Who actually owns Jagex does matter.

If you think I "insinuated" paying to play this game is important, then you should also think I insinuated that I am not important to this game myself, but this is not what I meant obviously. Otherwise, I would not be posting now.

Yes, who owns Jagex may matter to some people but unless you are one of those who put down the $300 million to buy it, you don't have any control of it.

What I am saying is just relax, new management is not always bad. You may even like it more.

Dilbert2001,

I never said I wanted to control this game, now I will admit to posting about a million times in 2007 during the free trade PVP ban, but other than that, I have not gotten to into trying to change anything on this game.

I am not stressed out over the sell of RS, I was pointing out there might be game changes I don't like, and the future of the company is uncertain. Different demographics for players will change the game. I have no problem with change as long as I enjoy my game experience. IF I like them I will p2p, if I don't, I will be just another player who doesn't come back to the game.

It doesn't matter if you want to own and change the game, if you don't have any investment in the company that legally owns the game, you simply can't control which direction the game will go. This is how capitalism works.

Don't forget the owners you deemed "lack of MMOs experience" was not the ones who were responsible for apparently one of your biggest complaints, the free trade removal in 2007. There obviously was no Shandong Honda to blame. With every new management, one should prepare for possible changes. Changes are not always good, but also not always bad. Sometimes, it may be neither good nor bad. It may be good to some but bad to the others. You never know before the new direction is revealed.

Dilbert2001,

The 2007 update was the last time I bothered to post of forums about this game related to changes in the game, I did not say it wasn't my biggest complainant ( I was using that as an example). I don't know if you were there at the time or not, but if you were not, you wouldn't understand. I did not say the update was a lack of MMO experience, so don't put words into my mouth. That update was not lack of MMO experience, that update was the creators arrogance pure and simple. It wasn't just the update, it was how they responded to the players; that was the problem. EOC changed Runescape to the point it was unrealizable (that update was my biggest complaint). I don't usually get on forums because I learned in 2007 if they don't like what you say, they delete the post; even when you follow forum rules.

I will say it again... I am not trying to control this game. I have no control over this game, only my time and money. If the game in the future is something I will enjoy, I will P2P, if not I will not, it is that simple. This is a GAME something people use to have fun, socialize and relax. As long as MY game experience gives me the enjoyment I want, I play, but when I know there is going to be a bunch of changes coming, I see no point in P2P until I can see for myself what is going to happen.

Every person plays this game in their own way, I play in game, you take to the forums. Each kind of game play is great as long as the player is enjoying their time on RS. I am not a forums person myself, I don't get out of the forums what you seem to.

I am done talking now as I can see this is just a circle that is never ending, and I am not having fun. When something on this game becomes boring and tedious, it is time to stop the activity.

Thank you for all of your responses and your time. As I have learned it takes a ton of time to be on forums, and I do appreciate your time and point of view.

There is something called the Veteran Cape. It shows you at least how many years a player has been with the game. In fact, my character is almost as old as the Gowers'. :)

Yes, I was in the game at the time of Free Trade Removal. No, I did not like it at all. However, it seemed like you did not understand what I meant. Removal of Free Trade was done by the same management you once liked (with knowledge of MMOs, etc) and not somebody new to MMOs or Foreigners. The point is don't judge a book by the cover. Don't just rush to the conclusion. Even if management remains unchanged, the game can still be changed to something you absolutely hate.
