Anything new is change, but from the posts on this thread it seems that its not the change itself they are worried about. But the people who own the company.

There have been far too many claims about CC information.

Mate, that's because back in 2007, Jagex was losing money out the whazoo refunding money from fraudulent CC payments from goldfarmers. Where were these goldfarmers predominately located? That's right- Asia (I believe the newspost specifically mentioned China as one of these locations).

It's actually why they removed Free Trade and Wilderness in the attempt to curb the rampant RWT that was occurring. It's a perfectly logical concern given this information.
The concerns about CC issues are absurd, as China(where the new investors are) ranks #5 in the rate of identity theft, while the USA (where the current investors are) ranks #2 in the rate of identity theft. Statistically your personal information would be safer in China than the USA.

So you stating that because the company is from a country that has some goldfarmers, the company must also be goldfarmers intent on illegally selling your CC information?

Mate, it was in the Development Diary (which no longer can be linked to due to it being antiquated, but Wikia has it archived if you wanna go check) which Andrew Gower himself wrote. I wouldn't be saying this if there wasn't at least a grain of truth to it.

Please don't post things without thinking about them, its blatant racist discrimination.

"I don't like what you're saying about something that has a grain of truth to it, therefore I am calling it racism"

Mate, that's some grade AAA SJW crap right there.

Pessimism = lost chances. You can never gain anything from purely pessimistic decisions.

You literally can not lose anything from nothing. A big part of pessimism implies nihilism. You may want to look this up before getting into philosophical debates, which isn't even the scope of this thread, so....

*Repeats post about how saying the same thing ad infinitum doesn't make it true or valid in context*

I have a lot of experience in Mathematics, and I can tell you right now- what is statistically true and what is ACTUALLY true are mutually exclusive. Statistics mean nothing when context is absent.

Even then, a lot of the illicit businesses, such as illegally selling virtual currency which is what lead to the decisions in 2007, are in China due to their near non-existent copyright laws.

So about that...

There is no justification for racism. You are discriminating against this company purely because they are from China.

If you think it is racist, report it in Forum Help. Otherwise, you can stop trying to be a moral authority on the topic.

But, ima just plop this here, it's from the archived article Gower wrote in 2007:

"...On the business side, real-world trading is just part of an even bigger problem. Mod Hobagoly says, " Real-world traders believe they are running legitimate businesses. In some cases, though, it's essentially organised crime. " There is a whole industry built up around it exploiting cheap labour and involving illegal activities. The majority of bots that we ban from members have been paid for with stolen credit card numbers.

Such accounts don't earn us money, they cost us money in bank refund charges - money that could be better spent on creating new content for our players; money that could help us increase the level of support our players receive. Also, in the longer-term, if we had continued to experience these problems with account fraud, then it could have led to us no longer being able to accept credit card payments from legitimate players ..."

Also, from the Wiki's article on goldfarming, it's something like 80% of all goldfarmers (which has lead to stolen CC information that lead to the situation in 2007) are based in China.

I could be completely wrong on this (Nexus, please clarify if you know), but if I am not mistaken, it is also what lead to Jagex heavily supervising accounts whose IP address was based in China. If this company were to gain 100% control, it wouldn't be completely out of the question for them to demand the CEO relax such tensions (assuming such supervision exist), which would lead to the situation above all over again.

And what links that information with this company?

It might not offend you, but it IS a racist claim.

And simply because you say it is racist, does not mean it is ACTUALLY racist. You've accused that so much in this thread it's essentially become a buzzword. It's becoming ridiculous.

Even then, I posted a conjecture.

Sounds more like immaturity than nerves to me. Just saying.
The idea that a large company would spend so large a sum, only to immediately interfere with a proven profit-making formula is, at best, naive.

And the idea that a company would put up 300M and be willing to wait 200 years to see profit (money above their initial investment) is nothing short of asinine.

Maybe it will take 200 years for Jagex to make $300 million under their current ownership. Maybe it will take 200 years for Shandong Honda to make $300 million from Jagex under their ownership if they manage the studio the same way.

But I doubt they will be stupid not to make changes and wait 200 years to get their investment capital back.

Jagex is currently a privately held company and their staffs are seemingly reluctant to give any details on the agreement but Shandong Honda (HTC mining corp) has to submit M&A reports to the stock exchanges in China. There are plenty of information regarding them and their partner in this deal, Pintian Invetsments circulating in China. Go dig out all the information if you prefer and make your own interpretations but a fact some chicken littles too afraid to reveal is, as reported by SINA and other big Chinese media websites, the agreement will become a binding one when Honda pays a down payment of $100 million to Jagex by April 30.

Also, although Runescape is not currently running in Asia and the new bosses have yet to show any plans in making any Jagex products accessible in Asia, Runescape has already been given its Asian name. They call it Wild World.

Thank you Dilbert, I was already aware of all of that information and I completely agree that there is no possible way this new owner will simply sit and do nothing except hope for getting their investment back many years down the road.

Personally, I believe they have plans. What those plans are nobody knows at this point, but I can't believe it will stay business as usual the way pips says in the opening post of this thread. At least it can't for long.

Good that you know but some people are still reluctant to believe all the current Jagex investors have already agreed to sell and they are happy to sell as what Mods Balance and Pips stated, and they are just waiting for the $300 million with the first $100 million coming in a month.
