Take the recent Loyalty Point system changes. They've segregated the RuneCoin items and the Loyalty Point items completely now, so there is no overlap between membership perks, and MTX. It's a slight change that shouldn't anger the playerbase, but, a slight enough change that it may increase RuneCoin/Bond sales.

Mate.

You're talking about a playerbase that gets ****** off at over just about everything.

That's why I like to label things as "bad" and "not so bad".

This change doesn't tell much atm. If you think it is good then don't cry later when they decide to add a lot of xp buffs and BiS equipment to Solomon and only Solomon. Only then you will hear a lot of complaints on why "loyal" runescape players can't use LP for Solomon items.

I'm bored with the drama and the pointless speculation - both of which is just going around in circles.

I agree. Just as a dog returns to its vomit, a fool returns to his folly.

And yet here you are again Blue Bears. :)

Dilbert, the mining company is considered money losing. But that's only due to the industry slowing down. Its also ignoring that they are part of a larger group that most certainly isn't losing money. What got you on that information was the sensationalistic journalism from the start.

When the inevitable cash shop opens, I hope it's ran by some fat merchant looking guy with an awesome mustache and a personality similar to that of the Happy Mask Salesman that tries acting like your best friend, provided that you keep offering him money. :D

Fifi was referring to the pointless speculation, hence why I quoted that. Posts need to be read in context, not just what you wish for it to mean.

anyone think that we should try and get another game company to buy jagex?

I'm thinking valve.

Then we can finally get Runescape on Steam!

That would be awesome though. Steam's wallet feature is so flexible.

It doesn't matter what industry in what country. It is not just a matter of journalism.

That's the bottom line of a PUBLICLY LISTED company. They have to tell their shareholders why $300 million with $100 million up front before the deal is even completed has to be spent on something with a PE of 200 while the company is in the RED.

So if one company in a conglomerate is in the red. Its bad news for everyone?
Or is it just negative gearing to balance out tax within the conglomerate?

If a company is making a lot of money, it has time to burn on acquiring asset which doesn't perform immediately, e.g. a Jagex with a PE of 200, but if the said company is not a vastly successful one, they are more inclined to make immediate result to bolster the balance sheet of the entire company. Various reports from China suggested Shandong Honda has to go through financing from a Pintien Investments to acquire Jagex. They $300 million does not come out of some idle petty cash from their piggy bank. In all likelihood, the interest they have to pay Pintien is far more than the $1.5 million a year they get to the "no change" Jagex.

If you think it makes sense to borrow money and pay more than $1.5 million a year just on interest to acquire something that gives you back only $1.5 million a year and you don't intend to make any change to it because you are happy to pay more than $1.5 million a year just to get back $1.5 million a year, go ahead and sell that idea to your boss. Anything can happen. A company can be stupid. But I just don't buy that idea.
