While you have gained free membership from your gp someone else has spent real money to pay for your membership at a current rate of twice what it would have cost you. What you saved....was actually paid for by someone else at the rate currently of 2 times what it would have orginally cost. Classy.

Yes. I know what I did, and I know what whoever sold it to me did. I don't think you understand that we both did it by CHOICE. Jagex is selling "your" gold, sure, but only if you CHOOSE to sell it, at a price that you CHOOSE is fair. Whoever bought the bonds CHOSE to buy them, and CHOSE to sell them to me of an AGREED amount of rsgp. That's what they DECIDED a safe transaction of $-to-rsg* was worth, that is what I DECIDED a safe transaction of rsgp-to-$ was worth.

So your finally seeing what ive been saying for 20 pages, what actually happened was Jagex profited off of somethinig that they have already charged you to get....and your okay with that......ok ....

I will keep paying my $5 membership fee each month for a while,as long as I am getting
some pleasure from playing.
But I feel having to hear chatter about bonds everywhere will cause me to keep more and more to myself, and feel like logging in less frequently. This promises to be way more annoying than SoF promotions. I can even foresee possibly losing interest all together.

It makes me sad.

I feel exactly the same way. I also feel like an idiot when all the evidence indicated that there was a lot of cheating going on but I continued my membership.

Hearing Jagex allowed the problem to become so prevalent and looked the other way with a wink-wink nod-nod as the cheaters were allowed to gain every advantage in the game over honest players was like a punch in the stomach.

It did feel that way Dadz. All the times I tried to counter all the negativity about the future of the game here on the forums is making me feel quite foolish. Many of these people saw things I was not willing or not able to see. Deep corruption.

Wait.. How is this a gold sink if you're just trading your gold to another player now? :s

When a player buys bonds from another player, the bonds become untradeable. To make them tradeable again, there is a GP tax on them, this is where the gold sink comes in because it removes GP from the game.

so pretty much all that's happening is that you're adding a feature to the game that's basically RWT with jagex being a middleman: if you want to buy money or an item with real world money, you buy bonds and trade them for the money or item you want; if you want money....well you can only get credit for things from jagex that cost real world money....
ehh i'm ok with this. at least some thought was put into it to fight off gold farmers rather than compete with them and wasn't just something like a "buy 1m *10" button on the website

I wonder how many kids lost gp today in this pathetic scam.
Example

Seeing people saying buying bond 8m, and seeing people selling them for 7***
** kid buys bond for 7.5 and then realizes it will cost him over 1m to make it tradeable again. Money sink effective...on all the wrong people.

Perhaps I am reading this all wrong, but this just seems like Jagex is caving in.

This reminds me of parents that throw wild, alcoholic parties for their teenagers. They have the attitude of," Hey, they are going to party anyway, so I might as well let them party here where I can keep an eye on things." Jagex seems to have accepted the fact that a fairly large percentage of players buy gold with rl cash, so hey, might as well let them do it through us.

Very disappointed.

My poor, beloved Runescape.... I was here to witness your birth. Watched you grow and flourish. But sadly, over the past year or 2 I've watched you slowly fade, your glory days now gone. And this I fear will be the final step of your funeral march :'(

Once again a bunch of people acting like fools over a game. That's right a GAME. If you don't like bonds don't buy them trade with them have anything to do with them.

As with anything in life no demand equals the termination of the supply. This game has evolved over the years to stay competitive with other similar games and to continuously attract new players. Its basic business if you can't stop rw gold trading then make it so the game actually profits from it.

How this hurts the game I am not sure it will increase the amount of cash flow to Jagex who can then in turn apply it in part to the game. Every time there is a significant update to Runescape 1% of the members jump on here screaming doomsday and as I have often said before if you don't like it don't play it. I guess bottom-line put it in perspective: if it isn't hurting you in the rw why is it an issue?
