I'm kinda sad to see the game officially go pay2win now. We'll see how it goes, I guess.

RuneScape is never going to be pay-to-win.

Having good items and gear but not knowing how to use them most effectively is still going to leave the player in that situation at a disadvantage to players who have developed their experience over time (both in terms of in game XP and knowledge of the game).

Don't get me wrong, to some extent I like this update as I can basically buy myself a lifetime membership with the money I have in game.

Now what I don't like, is that the in-game money I worked pretty hard to get can now be bought for IRL cash legitimately. It is Jagex that taught me buying rs gp is a morally wrong thing to do. Yes, I know you keep repeating no new gp is being brought into the game, but that doesn't change the fact people can buy an item worth millions of gp (~6.5-7.5m at this moment). And that right there really is a significant amount, whether you have the experience on how to use it or not matters little. It takes little to no effort to look up a guide and find out how to train a (buyable) skill or get gear and go bossing.

Overall, I'm actually fairly content with this update, as I understand its purpose and want to see gold farmers gone just as much as anyone else. Free membership is a nice bonus. Denying this is a form of pay2win however, I don't consider that possible.

The real problem with gold farmers is that they hurt the players opportunity to play in a fair environment. We're not concerned with them selling your I.P. as much as we're concerned that they're getting unfair advantages over us simply because they have money to spend, and you're perpetuating and actually guaranteeing that problem never goes away.

This is, in my opinion, the main problem with the update. It's totally understandable why Jagex are doing this. But I can't help but be unhappy that players can pay for wealth ingame. That is one of my primary concerns with gold farmers; yes I don't like deflation and inflation, but perhaps the most important thing to me if I'm honest, is that making money should require putting the time in, ingame, rather than just being able to pay for it, like paying for a cheat code. Now this particular problem can't go away, and it's like Jagex are accepting it, and actually benefiting from it.

If someone is rich enough and want to spend $5000 to buy 150b gp or gain advantage in the game, then so be it. After all, money CAN buy anything. On the other side, if someone is poor, they can simply just work hard to make gp and trade it for a membership. overall, i support this update. It's a win win for both sides

why not just skip the middle man and be able to buy membership/spins etc with in-game gold? it'll have the same effect, goldfarmers will still sell to people, if not more than before, they'll just lower their prices to lower than the bonds and people will pay less for the gold, buy the bonds off some more legitimate RWT'er and boom. cheap membership to continue doing what they were doing.

My first thought upon watching the video was, "Hey, I wonder if this means I can buy some bonds and trade them for, say, Bandos armor or something. Neat!" I'm not able to wear Bandos yet but I will soonish and I know I cannot afford it in-game. Bonds, in theory, should allow me another option. But I see that they are going to be dictated by the people who already have all the damn money , so how does it help me exactly?

Also, thanks for admitting you won't ban people for buying gold. That's really great for us legit players. And now all those gold buyers get to bully us around even more. Accuse us of being "lazy" (in a video game... 'cause that makes sense).

Awesome .
