yeah you would think that if you dont own your own corporation, imagine the tax on that gross sum, then the rent of the office building, wages, new servers every now and then and all the other myriad of expenses needed to keep runescape alive. what do you think that jagex have a single server in a basement they dug out in a field? get real.

What is with this childish approach to this thread? You're not providing a game to three year olds.

Hi my name is Jake and I hate bonds, Eoc, SoF and SGS, I think Jagex is biased, out for money nothing more, arrogant, ignorant and refuses to see the problems they create. There post my opinion with all the other oh-so-praising opinions in your thread.

Don't go around calling people ignorant like that, you're the ignorant one in this case. I really don't like eoc, nor sof, nor sgs (bonds are kinda 'kay, see my previous post) but hell... They're trying to keep a game alive with thousands of players. How many other games (as big/succesful as RS) have cash shops etc.? Exactly. About all of them. It's just normal they'd make something alike, but people like yourself calling others ignorant for not being to your likings can't see simple things as that. Disgusting...

I believe the "childish approach to this thread" line was aimed at Jagex. They have been "dumbing down" this game for years now making it easier and easier as if we couldn't understand how to play it already as it used to be. His post continues on to say "You're (Jagex) not providing a game to three year olds", further confirming my suspicions that the first line is geared towards Jagex.

Hope that helps clear things up and hope I didn't detract from Jake's initially intended message.

You sir are correct ;-)

Yes, yes, that is exactly what we think. Never mind the money they receive from the sale of advertising ad space, runecoins, items on SGS, spins on SoF, Runefest tickets, Rune$cape/Jagex items from the Jagex store, money they receive from coding games for/in cooperation with other gaming companies, not to mention funorb or Jagex's other games. Jagex absolutely needs the money from bonds sales or they will shrivel and die.

P.S. Almost forgot about the court litigation against bot makers/goldfarmers that Jagex won. They surely have fallen on hard times of late.

Its funny how Jagex is ignoring how many people are against it..
They just go further and hoping that we are slowly forgetting about what they are doing.

So Jagex added their own RWT...

Whats next????????????

I really don't think this is MMG's idea, let's place the blame where I truly believe it lies, IVP.

lol whats your IQ 2 great job!! Now they have something more to farm gold for and sell cheaper than you. Want to remove gold farming remove the ability to trade between players. Only leave the auction house no more gold farmers. o i hear all the crying coming but you know that is going to be form the gold farmers. so now you have a real way to kill the gold farmers but if you did that you would lose what 50% of your so called player base... so i doubt you truly care about gold farming as this is you just trying to get a chunk of that cash going to the farmers... the sad part is the gold farmers work harder than the CEO or any one that works at this company...

It won't just be the goldfarmers crying, It'll also be the scammers, the gamble hosts (if they still have anything left to gamble on, idk, I've been gone from game for a while) and to a much lesser extent and less loudly, the legit players that actually, honestly, do want to aid friends/strangers in game. I personally won't cry about it and will actually cheer it's removal, I was against it's return and further back agreed with it's removal in the first place.

I've been playing for over 10 years, and to be honest this seems like a good step in the right direction. Bots have always been a huge pain, and I've seen this strategy work before. However, the economics of it must balance out. This means it must be cheaper to buy bonds than gold. This is not currently the case, and I believe Jagex should step in and level the economy out a little (I know, that's not a statement people like to hear, but it's true none the less). The bonds G.E. prices are too low to compete with the gold farmers.

Wut?
Would be great, paying 1 gp for 2 bonds ^^!

Yes, RuneScape has become a pay-to-win game.

It wasn't at all a couple of years ago.

The phrase pay-to-win means you can pay to get ahead in the game.

If you pay money to get a virtual item that helps you play better, that's pay-to-win.

Now you can pay money, and it's not against the rules, for anything that's for sale at the GE. Just buy a quantity of Bonds, exchange them for gp at the GE, and buy that item.

Now money buys gold and virtual items. That's pay-to-win.

RuneScape is never going to be pay to win. The introduction of bonds doesn't allow players to purchase items that are not available in the game already. In addition whilst bonds can be traded between players for items, however, this doesn't guarantee success. Knowledge of the game and experience in it cannot be traded or purchased easily, instead that is something that comes with time and effort playing RuneScape.

In addition to this success, or winning if you wish to phrase it that way, means different things to different people. For some it might be hitting 99 in a skill, others it could be completing a quest, or having a large circle of friends.

Runescape actually always has been pay to win as for the next couple of reasons:
- You can't finish all quests without paying membership (neither achievements).
- It takes way longer to get any skill up to level 99 without membership.
- You can't get as much ingame money at the same rate without membership.

So stating Runescape isn't pay to win is a lost case at the very first sentence of the phrase.
