lets just forget the fact that its against the moral of the game for a sec and state some things wrong with this
1.the rwt websites are already cheaper than the bonds
2.idiots decided "hey im gunna merch these" and now this updates purpose completely failed, thanks merchants for making no good come from this
now some good things
probably 1/10 ppl who buy gold will do it like this
more money to fund updates
easier for ppl who dont have alot of irl money to get membership
doesnt add gold into game

even though the update was against the moral of the game it was a good idea that failed(unless of course the price goes up to a rate that competes with the goldfarmer's prices) well at least you tried jagex

I think Zee might have hit the nail on the head...

Makes sense to me that Jagex might be after other investors or sell out.

For Mod Mark to come out from the under the rock they hide under in the Jagex Headquarters is kinda impressing.

All your doing is replacing the gold farmers/bots with Jagex. You are still selling gold to players but positioning yourself to gain all the profit. People are still going to be able to buy gold... Isn't that the real issue? or is it since 40-50% of members purchase gold your going to give up your original vales and just give in.

Sure this is good for your business, but the fact you're being sneaky with how you word this is whole thing is ridiculous.

The real problem could not be solved. so this is an alternative. And you're right, jagex is going to take part of the gold farmers money, and that's a good thing. because with jagex it can be used for updates. It is sort of a "can't beat them, join them" situation. Players will buy gold anyway, might aswell be with jagex then.

Ok, so the bonds themselves aren't the worry here for me as such.. It's more your financial stability I am concerned with now.

From years of experience now (from about 2005 to the present) I've known you guys to use RWT and Anti-Bot as an excuse to mess about with the core mechanics and rules of the game. Some I've agreed with, some I haven't been so adaptive.

This one worries me more than any other to date... Is Jagex falling at the final hurdle? Why this sudden and unexpected turnaround? Is it really that you as a company have come to a realisation that such a number have used goldfarming sites? Or is it that you simply want to milk the final bulk out of the company before either selling up or shutting shop?
I'd rather you were honest with us here, something smells mighty fishy and with so many hours of my life, so much cash injected and so much faith in the future of this game I'm now asking myself: Should I just get out now before it's all entirely worthless and gone?

I need a little security in knowing the future direction of this company and game now.. With Solomon's all on sale (and trying to attract loyalty as another currency), Super September trying to keep people logging in daily, content being thrown back every other week, HTML5 BETA going silent, EoC still being problematic (and annoying, feels like it should still be in BETA) and hundreds of other random defects which raise an eyebrow or two even before this announcement..

I wouldn't expect an answer to this as it would severely damage the company.. But at the same time I hope you understand my own concerns.

- This is also true - I'm so sick of Jgex being so secretive with how they run this game.

OK lets rewind 5 years ago when buying game gold was completely against their values and "integrity." I'm sick of Jagex trying to get more and more money, just build a dam better game and stop making up all these stupid tricks and being a complete hypocrite

Very interesting, I hope that they will do what you intend them to accomplish in terms of improving the game & killing goldbots.
I'm sure there will be players who automatically decide to hate them or complain without even reading how they will work.
I play another online RPG with a similar item called a "Mr. Accessory". That game is an "indie" game that is funded through donations rather than subscriptions. For every $10 a player donates they receive a "Mr A" as an in-game item which can be used in a special NPC store, equipped (to the accessory slot, ofc) or traded/sold in-game to other players for in-game currency/items.
So these new bonds are the same concept.
Only cheaper I guess, as they cost $5 per, rather than $10.

Edit:
And in case anybody's wondering....Yes, some players do buy up "Mr A's" for the primary purpose of reselling them for game currency, and this not against the game rules to do. Generally, these players do this to buy expensive items from other players which are no longer available except by player-to-player trade. So the real money goes to support game development, and the in-game monies/items go to players.
What we obtain too easily, we esteem too lightly, it's dearness only that gives everything it's value.

" Nor do we don’t want to remove the half of the player-base that have bought gold (many of whom just want an occasional helping hand), "

This is what's wrong with Jagex these days. So you cheated? Well, we're not going to punish you, because then you might stop paying us cash. To hell with all the legitimate players, just keep the advantage over them you bought.
