The one and only downside to this is you're adding a much more efficient way for players to purchase in-game gold from Jagex. Simply buy bond with RL cash --> sell it on the GE. Quick, clean, efficient.

I'm honestly not boiling too much over that considering we've had that for months since the SOF had a convert to coin option.

Since you're unwilling to remove the squeal of fortune, this is a step in the right direction that managed to (as you've shown) benefit everyone except gold farmers in some form. Here's basically where my attempted argument against this update went:

Bob: Hi, I'm Bob! I'm obscenely rich and own 15 partyhats and a completionist cape! I'm very proud of my accomplishments, but now Moneybags McSqueal can simply buy gold to get an unfair advantage!

Moneybags McSqueal: Well sure, but now you , the legitimate non-gold-buying player have a way to obtain runecoins and spins with your vast wealth, that were previously exclusive to me, the premium customer! You can even buy membership so you're getting the game for free! You're getting significant in-game advantages due to your hard-earned effort while Jagex is draining me dry!
Headcanon Haven, where everything is made up and the points don't matter.

@Mellow Green. If you are an adult please prove it by being respectful and mature. The primary goal of any company is to make money, JAGEX is no different. However bots make up 50% of their coustomer base. They are effectively losing money everytime they ban a bot. While the Bond Update will increase their income it pales in comparison to the assets they devote to combating botting which is one of their biggest sources of income. It's not just a money grab. It's a choice between two evils.

Respectful and mature?

An adult reacts appropriately to situations, and being LIED TO and DECIEVED by the company you give money to is cause for OUTRAGE by anyone. Look at the video, and look at the text, they VERY carefully ignore the fact that bonds will be sold for GP, and that is their main purpose. They tell you about gold farming, but then candy coat bonds with these "extra features" in order to distract your mind from what this update is really about, selling gold.

"this item can be traded or sold" -paraphrased

It doesn't take an adult to understand it will be sold and it doesn't take an adult to remain respectful even realizing that. No one posting on this has failed to grasp that, yet even those who are against this update remain composed and state their problems with it clearly and concisely without taking up 1/3rd of a page. Your problems with this are legitimate and another squeal of fortune is a scary thought. However that is no need to use caps and openly insult the makers of this game which at one pont you were very fond of.

I'm starting to see what everyone else is seeing. This isn't going to curb gold farmers; if anything it will promote them! For example, players can now buy a cheaper membership with purchased gold than from the rs site itself. This is one of many reasons people will turn to gold-farmers. And deflation? Well that's not going to happen ... money isn't really leaving the game with bonds, just changing hands, like someone said earlier. And bonds aren't anything special anyways, so I can't see the demand being excessively high for too long, I mean spins, membership, and RuneCoins is all they can get you, and it's arguable cheaper to buy those things through the site anyways, direct. If anything these will bring MORE MONEY INTO THE GAME, for example, if someone buys 10 bonds x 8 spins = 80 spins and then wins 200m, this brings millions into the game on a daily basis! Way to go Jagex, nice way to inflate the economy !!!

Immediately it seems players can do that, can pay about $5 on a farm site for a month of members. That's cool. Take the chance of being hacked, DDos'd, robbed, and having their personal information exploited to save a couple dollars. Sounds reasonable enough to me. Now let's consider the long term.. less people buying bonds from jagex but using the the farm raised rsgp to buy them in the ge lowers supply and raises demanded at the same time, all it takes is a couple mil and it wouldn't be worth it anymore, would take no less than a matter of days.

You're also incorrect on the deflation. Money is leaving the game everytime you buy one through the ge and go to trade or sell it again. That my friend is deflation. I know from your assumption that that'd never happen that you may not be familiar with it, but me and many other players are actually generous, selfless, and compassionate players that love to help struggling friends out.

Now any player can go on and buy millions of gp. Why not just ban players buying gp illegally? This would surely work. If you KNOW that 40 % of players bought gold in the last month, then you must know who those players are. So ban them! Unless, of course, you are only trying to expand your profit, you would instead take a hard-line, iron-fist approach like you guys used to do in the old days. One strike = permanent ban. No and's, if's, or but's.

"Hi, my name is Sam and I have been playing RuneScape for 6 months now. I love training combat, but some better equipment and armour would really help me. I want to buy Bonds and swap them for some ganodermic armour. I might finally be able to join my friends on a Nex run!"

I say this is a splendid idea.
The 10% for "re-authorizing" trade status of a bond is a well thought out mechanism for implimenting increased financial control as well as the NON-STACKING of the bonds in ones bank.

I am sure this will take a bit of time to shake out but it certainly looks like a well designed method for limiting the influence of gold farmers. It evens lends itself to tweaking more readily than a more heavy-handed approach such as was seen with the elimination of the Wild and instituting limited player-to-player trades.

lmfao, this is so hilarious...

you guys though very long and hard on something that's copied from CCP's Eve Online?

Guess what, this "bonds" thing is pretty much what Eve Online does and has been doing in their game for a long while. And guess what? People STILL DO RWT on eve online.
