That is IF someone decides to re-sell the bond they've bought from another player. As I see it, bonds are going to be bought only when they are intended to be used by said buyer. The 10% fee is a crock, and your figure is not correct. Very few players will pay this fee for bonds, they're only buying them to use them. So, say 10 players buy and sell 100m worth of bonds directly to players who intend to redeem them, no gold leaves the game. No deflation, nothing. All they MIGHT manage to do is detract people who would otherwise buy gold from RWT website and buy from Jagex instead. BUT I gold farmers will probably just undercut the competition (JAGEX), and so...nothing changes but now perhaps more people are getting gold they haven't earned through the game, which leads to further disintegration of the community.... Why not ban those players who bought gold? Huh? That would be a start....

I've drawn that there are five uses for these items:

1. Donating. Not available, nor am I holding my breath on it.
2. Personal use upon buying. With the £/€/$ to RC/Spin/Membership ratio compared to other payment methods, I can't apply this as a use personally. You'd have to be downright mental to use this.
3. Gifting. Is this your excuse to claim it's not selling gold?
4/5. 'Swap' and/or Sell. Same thing. Finance gain.

Heya Fluff Fox ,

Thanks for your feedback, I'd love to address some of your queries just to help clear some things up (that many players are asking!)

1. Imagine playing as a clan and having a clan member who is currently free to play. They are unable to join yourself and other pay to play players in members only content - however if you all chip in, you could use your in-game currency to get this player a couple of weeks membership from the G.E! This opens up so many opportunities for clans and will allow all clanmates to get involved in events - I can only see this strengthening the community!

2. Bonds are not designed to straight up replace membership. You are correct in thinking that it is most cost effective to simply buy membership, however this system is a direct response to stamp out gold farmers for good.

It's a sad fact that gold farmers are like cockroaches and will always find a way to survive. We strongly believe, based on evidence of similar systems working in other games, that this will prevent people from even considering purchasing gold - and will in fact help strengthen the in-game economy and make GP a more valuable resource. This will put an end to gold farmers in RuneScape.

3. Gifting is pretty much the same as donating. In the past, if you wanted to get your friends game time as a Birthday present, for example, you would need to get a game card. Sometimes this led to conversations over the phone relaying long authentication numbers, which was just annoying! Now you can simply surprise your friends with bonds - a much more streamline and simple system!

4. You can trade bonds, this is true! The price however is controlled by you; the players - just like all other items on the G.E. If you would rather trade your bonds for an in-game item, then that is also possible.

This offers the first proper "gold dump" in RuneScape. Long time players will know that after a while your GP just stacks up to a point where it almost has no value - bonds create this value! For the first time ever you will be rewarded for your years of hard work with the ability to acquire membership, rather than just sitting on a money stack. As for players who are struggling to get into the game to to time restrictions, they can purchase bonds and get a decent head start with useful gear upgrades so they can shoot for 99!

I really hope this helps clear up some of your queries - keep the discussion flowing folks!

^_^

I just realized something. Sof promotions and Sgs promotions will help boost the price of bonds. Bond prices rising means more of them bought and less people going to goldfarmers. Thus, all three Jagex mtx help fight rwt.
I praise you.
Updates are hard to make, especially when it's a solo project, so raging against the mod will get you nothing.

The price for RWIT will drop hopefully cutting out some of those that can't afford to stay in business. I like your idea of banning players who do buy gold though. (even though I did this along time ago sadly)

"Hi, my name is Sam and I have been playing RuneScape for 6 months now. I love training combat, but some better equipment and armour would really help me. I want to buy Bonds and swap them for some ganodermic armour. I might finally be able to join my friends on a Nex run!"

The competitive community would like to remind Sam that all of his friends got their armor legitimately and in a game about bossing and being, well, an MMO, Sam's thinking is backwards and unwanted.

This just doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to me. I understand that Jagex needs to make money and I have no real issue with that. Just add the bonds and let it go at that. I really can't see how this will stop any real world trading. It has been said in numerous posts already, that if the gold farmers sell for less bonds will be worthless. I remember the times when I would log on to play and there would be well over 100 thousand players online. Logging in today there were less than 43 thousand. I am wondering if Jagex really has a handle on what the players really want. Obviously something is amiss. I can't envision me buying bonds, but as long as the don't make it so we MUST buy them, then I guess it doesn't really matter. Either way I enjoy the game for the most part and would hate to see it go, but it sure looks kind of sickly these days.
