I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before, but the RS Authenticator isn't exactly all that safe because it can be deactivated via a player's linked RS e-mail. This doesn't require the player to verify the deactivation with the Authenticator software itself (although, I am in favor of not having that).

This isn't helped by the fact that players pass-words are restricted to only 6-12 alpha-numeric characters that are not case sensitive. Jagex, who exactly is responsible for account security?

Authenticator has ruined my runescape account.

my registered email for my rs account is something i did when in was 12, im 23 now, and obviously had different emails.

i didnt think this would be a problem untill the day i broke my phone with authenticator on it, cant disable because i need to access my old email which i cant. so now i can only log into the site.

I'm in the same boat. What do you know, we're the same age and I started my account around 12 as well. I realized the authenticator issue the instant I couldn't disable it. I got lured in with the companion app and now I'm just waiting until the time my phone breaks. The authenicator never asked us to verify our emails before setting it up so now our accounts will get screwed over. I don't understand why Jagex can't use the authenicator system or our in-game messaging system to verify a new email address for our account when our registered email can't be accessed.

Just a second ago a Twitch account just like the runescape twitch jagex uses was created and had a link stating to activate a double experience sign in and vote on a certain poll. I followed the link and was hacked. I don't know how this was possible when my account has the authenticator activated unless they are able to replicate your i.p. and log in uncontested. This proves it is possible. Someone has dropped the ball and has everyone thinking their accounts are now safe when in fact they are not. While Blizzard has a way to track these hacks on games such as, World of Warcraft, Jagex will say so sorry but there is nothing we can do. I will now end my subscription. I hope that one day you guys can get your stuff together and actually remedy these situations and actually provide some safety.

Hi I really need help. When i was skilling in runescape someone said that there would be a giveaway from a youtube video. Following which it provided a link to a runescape forum. I logged into the runescape forum and it said that the thread couldnt be found. PLEASE HELP ME. I am truly at a loss. I lost around 100m in item worth and gold. I am at my wits end and I cant find anyway to contact JAGEX which is why I am posting here. Please help me.

This "authenticator" is NOT easier than JAG!! I just spent the last 3 hours trying to get this to work. A guy in my clan tried to walk me through it but I was still unable to get it to work. I'm seriously ticked off. Most of us don't have smart phones or multiple computers or tablets so why disable JAG?! Also, putting it on a USB stick and trying to keep track of that tiny little stick is ridiculous. I finally did something manually according to RS instructions and got a code to work but I still have no clue what I'm supposed to do or how. They said there's a way to do it just once every 30 days but I don't see where to set that up. Needless to say - alot of us are not pleased with Jagex taking away JAG............
