Hack the email account and there you have access to pw restoration and disabling authenticator?

Also, will my recovery questions stay? Thank 'god' there is something as a bank pin for account security.

Also loads of specific feedback on the way you communicate.. like the mismatch between the FAQs "14. How do I disable JAG?" and the answers "you should just do it". More is for you to learn on your own.

I believe you did not forget about your brand lovers who do not have smart phones.
I do believe you will manage this problem. Come on, I have never bought a smartphone (deliberately) and I will never do it!
Cheers!

There wasn't really anything wrong with JAG. I don't own a smartphone, nor do I want to have to use a secondary device every time I log onto my account on another computer (and every 30 days for already trusted ones, which sounds like a bit of a nuisance).

This would've been a great alternative to JAG in my opinion.

Do I have a smartphone - Yes
Do I have a second computer - Yes

will I be using RuneScape Authenticator - NO

As it`s a step backwards in security and on reading this update last night i cancelled my subscription.

As others have said JAG should still be prime security and the new Authenticator as an optional extra.

What about those of us who don't have a phone or device that can use the authenticator?
What if we like keeping our information as separate as possible?

I don't mind the extra security with JAG, but now I'll be losing that extra layer of security. The authenticator isn't an option.

My own post is yet another complaint against this new system, just so that Jagex gets the message.

I myself do not own a smartphone, and neither do my two brothers. We are fortunate to have more than one computer, but without a smartphone, how are we supposed to play away from home?

Let's say i'm in the library, and I've been reading for like four hours straight. Normally, I would just hop on one of the computers, authenticate it for maybe an hour, and take a short break by playing runescape. Now, however, I am unable to do that because I have no smartphone.

Finally, gone are the days where my brothers and I could play runescape together away from home. Say for example, we are visiting our familiars in a different state, and they happen to have more than one computer. We won't be able to play runescape because the app for authentication is thousands of miles away!

You do know that this is an optional feature, right?

You do know that JAG is being removed right? So it isn't really optional if you want some sort of account security.

18. What if I don’t have my authentication device on me?

If you are trying to login from a new PC but do not have your device with you, simply click on the ‘disable authenticator’ link on screen and an email will be sent to your registered email containing a link to disable the authenticator. With the authenticator disabled, you’ll be able to access your account, but we strongly recommend that you re-enable the authenticator when you get your device back.
