I've been playing Runescape for a good 10+ years on and off. I've kept up with the news and updates, and now this update/news feed popped up on my Facebook. The CEO, Mark Gerhard, addressed that they will bring back 2007 Runescape based on the amount of votes, and in order to vote you have to carry a membership with Jagex for Runescape. Now, I haven't played Runescape in awhile but I want to help. It went down like this:

Level 1 - 50,000 or more votes
Level 2 - 250,000 or more votes
Level 3 - 500,000 or more votes
Level 4 - 750,000 or more votes

My concern about this kind of suggestion is that if we really wanted 2007 Runescape back, we would have to subscribe or re-subscribe for a membership TO vote. Which is basically $7.95 USD for a month and for one vote. Obviously you want players to come back into the game. Totally understandable and I'm with you on that, but in order to do that we have to PAY to vote. We won't even achieve much because there is hardly even enough "members" to obtain level 1. I'm going based off of numbers I see on the site homepage, Right now it's showing at least 78k players. I'm pretty sure some days would be over 100k. Half or more could be non members, and one third of them are probably members. If members were the only ones to vote we probably won't even make it to level one. I'm basically stating everyone should be able to vote without having to pay for a membership just to vote. A quick solution I can probably come up up is very similar to us posting onto this forum. Required Skill level. The reason why I know it's probably not best to let everyone vote is because people would probably keep making a*counts JUST to vote. How about a better alternative by following the forum rules like if you wanted to vote, you'd have to have "xxxx" skill level. Just like how much you need in order to post onto the forum. Of course if you're a member you can vote. I'm just trying to avoid paying a fee just to vote.

Please Jagex this will do nothing good for you this will make people even more evil towards your updates. I wouldn't mind if rs was still like 2007 but now this is the future we need to keep it that way. I believe this will be used as a weapon by the eoc haters to hate on you even more. This is just my prediction. If you need to though, just make this an option for people who have 5+ years of rs.

Another problem that I have encountered is that if bringing back 2007 Runescape becomes somewhat successful is the payment fee to play the content. Which is asked to pay $15 USD and if it goes really successful it will be $20 USD. Now if this a one time fee? or a monthly fee?

If it's a monthly fee, I will say that that price is a bit outrageous. Although, I understand that you guys probably need the money to keep the servers up and running and have it maintained thoroughly and more specifics I can't come up with right now. For the price of the game being paid monthly would we have to restart our accounts back to level 3 with level 1 stats to everything? Now if yes, then why not give us some sort of stat booster or stat multiplier for the fact that we're paying $15 or $20 USD a month to play this game. Of course we shouldn't be able to keep that multiplier for long. Perhaps one or two months of game play we're allowed to have this multiplier.

If this is a one time fee. I'm ready for you to take my money, and maybe add in that multiplier idea too.

I think this is a terrible idea that would waste resources that could be implemented by improving the many things that need improvement in the current game! People dont consider that there have been a ton of little insignificant but handy updates and improvements to the game in the past 5 years that they take for granted and would surely miss (graphical, content and interface). It seems like a way to pander to the whiners that seem to have taken over the forums, but their obnoxiousness only illustrates the point that the loudest group is nearly never the majority nor the most sensible. There is plenty that needs work in the current game (agility is useless aside from quest reqs as the time saved with run and shortcuts is nothing compared to time spent training - train 10 hours to save 45 seconds, by the time you have high smithing lvs you arent using any gear you could smith anymore, buying pots is almost always cheaper than making them, the list goes on..). Putting time or resources into giving ppl a game that they remember fondly thru an incomplete and biased lens helps noone, and the ppl who are in support of this plan are clearly not viewing it from a reasonable and sane viewpoint, sorry to be coarse, but it just seems like such a silly idea. Interesting certainly, but not good.
