I personally think, a side server (Like the Beta was) would be awesome to bring in some extra money for Jagex. Lots of people are willing to pay the same price, if not more to play a 2006 version of RuneScape. They could make it so you have to be a RuneScape member to play, and pay a price to play. Or just pay for the server. You would be able to transfer your account (Stats only) and it wouldn't effect the current RuneScape in the Least. That's an insight from my perspective. Surely they can do that, it's the fear of losing real RuneScape players for the 2006 Runescape server they would be worried about.

Other than that, I would personally be happy with some hind of control on the gambling around RuneScape as well as the gold farming bots. They ruin the economy.

I must say this gave me new found respect for jagex based off the sincerity of this post. We focus too much on what they did wrong and do not give enough gratitude to what they do right. Imo all that high level content released this year was great!

Jagex you have made many announcements of planned actions with little to show for it (a lil improvement from what I hear as of recent though) so I hope you follow through this time.

There were no explicit mentions of gambling in this newspost. As much as I hate gambling, I would rather see the Jagex-gambling method implemented to put an end to the heavy RWT and spam nuisances caused by those gambling hosts and their gold advertisers. Heck Jagex can even make it beneficial to the game economy by making it a net loss for players effectively acting as a money sink.

Seeing as this is now page 94, I imagine that this will just get lost in the masses. However, I would really like to express my gratitude for the update; transparency and communication is necessary to foster a good relationship between the players and the developers. It's things like this that make it more likely that I will at some point purchase a membership to enjoy the favorite game of my youth once more.

Just a couple things:

First, you mention making our achievements maintain their significance in the coming year. However, the gratuitous amounts of xp available not only from events but from activities within the game itself make leveling much easier than it was previously (say, three years ago). How do you plan to compensate for this?

Second, there is a noticeable lack of mention of the gambling phenomenon which, along with the EoC and micro-transactions, is one of the most controversial topics governing discussion todayl

@Zarosiannuke

then why is the eoc pvp null and avoid?yes your precious version is horrible(the old was bad too imo)

clearly all the players happy with the EoC are the ones who enjoy EXP gainers and PvM.,this isnt a issue of balance(its 10times more imbalanced) its not fun or challenging.

@ D Mihawk

sorry i thought you were complaining about loyalty rewards a few pages back.....

convincing? all you need to do is logg in and find out how much the Eoc effected this game.,.,.,you need to stop being bull headed and listen to other players point of view.

Haa Haa Jink sounds very gullible.

Has he not seen the dozens of other news posts just like this one over the past few years, almost all of which have been swept under the carpet and turned into broken promises? Just because Mod MMG releases a news post addressing these issues and proclaims with half-assed sincerity that Jagex is admitting to their mistakes and are determined to do better in the future, does not mean it will actually happen.

It sounds lovely and all, and I admit that I am once again hopeful and praying that they actually mean it this time. But the past speaks for itself, and history has a funny way of repeating itself.

@Pest again.... (lol)

"Well then better loophole: Jagex isn't in your country and is therefor NOT bound by its laws. Only thing for your country to do: Block Runescape.***

Sad truth. "

Jagex maintains servers specifically for my country as well as many others with similar legal positions.

Jagex is aware they are operating multi-nationally thus remain culpable.

Jagex is run from Britain where the same law is in place for gambling (which is similar for most Commonwealth countries).

Jagex is "owned" by IVP which is in U.S.A. and also has similar legal requirements.

Where would you like to go with legal responsibility on this one? They are liable.

Easy solution:
Remove gambling from the game.....

Well this is the post I was waitin for. I'll never be a realscape player again with EoC here. And before you idiots say something like omg noob give it a chance. I did lol, hence how I'm still a Member.

I don't take this seriously either. I think it's a joke and I remember this "being more open to the community" crap from a previous post at least a year ago that Daniel Clough made.

If your satisfied with having a small player base and living off sof and sgs scraps then keep doing what you're doing. The wildy is absolutely dead now. This previously used to be a popular activity for players and a lot of us became members because of it.

Also, redirecting a private server site to yours will NOT gain you more players/players back LOL.

I'll keep enjoying my private servers. Good luck

Anyways now that I quit and the wildy is basically dead I think it would be smart to PUT BACK RESTRICTED TRADE AND REMOVE THE WILDY. I've already made 1b off luring (which you also ruined and now only soft lurers try I lure in red) on my pure so I don't mind too much what happens to the game. Probably better off for you to put it back and get rid of gambler bots hahah

While I agree that construction needs an extreme restructuring, as well as summoning and agility, I for one am still aching for a smithing revamp. It is still my favorite skill and only my second 99, and I just hate how the only real updates it gets are add-on content (like obsidian armor. Absolutely no application outside a certain small area and limited application within it), or updates to the speed of gathering experience (Artisan's Workshop was nice and stopped it from being another money-sink skill like Herblore). The only step that I've seen in the right direction for smithing was its integration into Player owned Ports, by making the high-level armor craftable only by a high smithing level.
Now, hear me out. Since you've recently released level 90 equipment in the form of Drygore weapons, it seems feasible to me that equipment will be released all the way up to 99 (as tougher bosses come out, etc.). I think the best way to revitalize the old skills is to make this max level gear non-tradeable, and only craftable through the skills linked to the class. For example, I should be able to smith rune at a much, much lower level than 99. This will not wreck the economy because the materials are still very scarce. At 99, I should be able to smith the best, un-tradeable, max level equipment in the game. Likewise, at 99 crafting I should be able to craft the best range equipment in game, as well as the shell for the best magic equipment which could then be enchanted by a max level mage.
Basically, I love smithing. I love the cape, I love the concept, but the reward for this time-consuming, specialist craft should be much greater.

P.S. Could I also get a Linza pack at Solomon's? I love her hair/outfit.
