"Two months in, we’re glad to see you mastering the combat system and enjoying its exciting improvements. However, we appreciate it hasn’t been an easy transition for everyone and I apologise for that; we still have work to do, and we have learned the need to be even more careful and responsive in the future. "

The Squeal of Fortune (and, to a lesser extent, Solomon’s General Store) has always been a heated topic of discussion. I won’t sugar-coat this: these additions were - and are - vital for growing RuneScape. They allowed us to double the size of RuneScape’s team and keep up the near-weekly game updates. Also, we've put the money we've earned from these back into RuneScape technology and infrastructure, with the focus on tackling lag, improving audio and graphical quality. You'll see these big investments really coming into play in 2013. "
Rather than continue using the SoF and SGS, which is detested by some players (ignored by most of the rest apart from free spins of the SoF), you could consider other alternatives.
Mod MMG, you could consider the return of old RS2 in 2006-2009? Make a poll of what updates that veterans want in this return of the old servers. If you do care about making genuine income, it's about keeping the veterans rather than making them quit for good. For those who did not adapt to EoC and have quitted, your best bet is to get them back this way. If you don't make ridiculous pricing, you can see how the players will respond to it.
It's up to you, to retain players, if you do care. Rather than just posting this thread merely to sugar coat whatever you like to say.
For you to know, I asked my friends about what they knew about Runescape, they know it as the old game they once played. Even if they had quit ages ago, some checked on RS occasionally. Their personal comments, EoC ruined what they knew of Runescape. It was simple to play, uniquely RuneScape.
Thanks for reading my point of view, if you do bother.
