Hello Mod Mark and Team!
I have been keeping myself open to these recent and soon to come updates that you and the rest of the Jagex team have put forth. I have been a loyal player to Runescape for many years now, and still many to come. Looking back on runescape and comparing it to to todays Runescape, there have been many changes that make this game well worth playing. Everyday I am online people who are talking to me about many issues that are disgusses in public. listed in order of importance;
1) Scamming
2) Botting
3) Luring
4) "Trolling" or un needed dissruptions
The scamming will never stop and comming up with new ideas to prevent it is like telling your dog to pee in the toilette.
The botting and luring however, there is a possible stop to that. Make people more aware of luring , much like the wilderness sign when you enter the wilderness "Warning! all items are dropped upon death" <- that sort of idea. but instead of a sign do another event, much like the "safety first" event released march 2008, which envolves a cut scene (un skipable) of about 30 seconds watching people being lured, signs that you are being lured, many things that people do not think of, it does require the cooperation of the gamers aswell.
Botting, on the other hand, will be far more difficult. The odd time, I venture into the wilderness and pick off bots here and there. In doing so, I study some of the things they do, how they move, patterns, what they wear. I have personally tried to follow the exact path of a bot, and no matter how many times I try, I can NEVER follow the exact same path as before, thus making mosts bots obvious right off the hop. I report every bot I see, and in most cases, its when I am trying to skill or just doing a quest. Is there a way to have a "smart screen" in the coding ? detecting a number of identicle movements and actions ? if so, im totally for it. I will even DONATE to help.
Thanks for listening Jagex.
Yours Truely:
Hostshreador.
