"Wow awesome! so many questions! I'm doing my very best to keep up but for every question I answer another 30 come in
I'll try and get through as many as possible"

This is why they hold Q&A sessions, rather than just randomly trying to answer questions. ;)

First of all, Thanks for getting even more invovled with the players and the community!!! I would love to see more Q&A sessions personally because i have some questions i like to get answers to, Subjects i would like to see are: EoC Armour / weapons values and the interaction with monsters they have, and how to determine what gear is optimal for what monster.

It is a big step forward to be more open on what is going around behind the scenes and early announce updates. What i would really love to see is an item in the behind the scenes videos where you actually talk about the progress an update is making instead of solely talking about what the update is. For example problems you come across during development, we could then comment about it and help finetune it.

Also, it would be great to get more insight in how the botwatch system is progressing, currently we don't know how far in the unrolling of the system you are, and how effective it is. It is a good thing you are going to continue working on getting rid of bots and gold farmers. But it would be great if you would listen to players about this. What i mean is, gold farmers are almost always found in the same locations, which you then could look at and do something about more quickly. Example, there are loads of gold farmers at brutal green dragons, even at mithril dragons.

Though i loved all the free bonus experience items, emotes, promotional items etc. we could lay our hands on in 2012, as you said, they were too frequent and too dominating. I would rather see more bonus xp released through seasonal events, added in the skills tab like festival of the death, than more bonus xp items, of which there are tons, tons and tons.

For the evolution of combat, i overall agree it is a success and for the better future of RS. Though my major problem still is the armour values, weapon values, and the interaction with monsters. Currently, armours and weapons are dominating and levels do not add to your abilities. What i came across during slayer is the following: You either hit a monster almost 100% of the time, or you hit a monster almost never. Same with armour and monsters attacking you, The gear you use doesn't matter really, you could use leather armour which has the same effect as royal armour against certain creatures. There isn't a middle, there is just a huge gap in getting hit or not and hitting or not.

Overall, 2012 was a good year with some great updates, i personally really loved the runespan, getting me 99 runecrafting straigth from the launch. Also, the new tasks interested me a lot, quests as well, because i am a fan of tasks and quest. THough i am really disappointed that we still have to wait for those big grandmaster quests that open up long long long awaited areas, like mourning ends 3 or the quest releasing menaphos.

ANyway, thanks for the headsup, you have a great set of mods out there. (Would you look at existing game content forum and revive the Feedback library please!!) =)

~Sincerely,
One of the players.

On the EOC balancing front, I think it's a great job you've done laying down what armour can be expected to do at different level requirements, roughly equalising the abilities of equal-requirement armour across all combat styles.

I would say there are 2 things especially that still need addressing though:

Bolts are still confusing. When you tip and enchant them, there's no obvious way to tell in-game if they are going to work with your equipped crossbow without actually firing them. I still have to use a compatibility table to tell what I can and can't fire. It's silly that the highest tier bolts using rune are too powerful for the rune crossbows to deal with, while the dragon crossbows don't have dragonMETAL bolts to accompany them (Dragonstone tipped rune is not the same thing). It would be beneficial, I feel, if the powers of existing bolts were scaled so they don't interfere with the next metal tier's base power, and dragon bolts were introduced with their own gem tip and enchantment choices to make up for the loss. That way, you could be guaranteed if you use a metal bolt it will work with the equivalent crossbow, regardless of enhancments.

Secondly, equipment may be balanced but what of the requirements? You recently buffed up a lot of the monsters that drop unsmithable high-tier equipment but was it a bit too much? Essentially I am saying that if an activity can give a player a specific class of equipment (e.g. Barrows armour and weapons) it should be at least marginally profitable to complete that activity over time while wearing the next lowest grade armour down (e.g. Dragon armour and weapons). Otherwise, requiring someone to have the equipment already to be able to get the equipment in the first place is very unbalanced gameplay-wise.
The Empty Lord is a figment of the imagination of gullible people who started worshipping the purple Elder Bathrobe. The name and symbol comes from the washing label: Za-ros means "Do not dry clean".

As a bit of a veteran, I must admit some skepticism here, it's not the first time we've been told "Everything will be okay" and then everything goes quiet. One thing I would ask for is more involvement like this, talking to the community, admitting mistakes and looking for constructive criticism to improve rather than bursts of communication, followed by months of silence in which doubt and mistrust begin to well up.
I sincerely hope you deliver on your promises and achieve your goals of improving the game, and wish you the best of luck.
