@Autumn Seed: I can honestly say I agree with you. I wouldn't mind paying an extra 50 cents or a dollar a month (not sure what that translates to in pounds/euros) if it meant Jagex would hire some full-time bot elimination staff. I know they've already raised membership prices a few times during the time I've played, but if it was for that cause, it would be worthwhile. (Not to mention all of the bank they are making from SoF spins...if all that went to the anti-bot fund, they'd be out of the game within a month lol)
@Abysmal Whip: I agree that all posts about bot-banning are PR exercises and marketing ploys, at least to some extent. But that's why I think Jagex owes it to paying members to report exactly how much work is being done to combat this, rather than just giving vague descriptions. If 10,000 accounts were banned, and they confirm this, then I applaud them. If 10 accounts were banned, hence little is being done, then that is something that they need to own up to. Periodic reports or a 'Ban-o-Meter' would just help in keeping them honest about it. Because the problem is - no one knows which of the cases is true. Both are exaggerated, of course, but they're just examples of either a great deal or very little being done.
I'm not necessarily criticizing the Jmods on their anti-botting efforts, and I have no intentions of being negative, I'm just pointing out that realistically no one knows how much effort is being put forth to combat this problem. A little more information would go a long way.
