Many thanks indeed for tying with the alleged "war" on botting. However if this was a real life conflict we would have been over-run years ago.

This may be an ongoing struggle - but so many times Jagex have failed to get absolutely ruthless with botters, so they just dont stop - even come back stronger and 'better' than before. So much for the cluster flutterer and botany bay which now appear to be pretty redundant as its clear neither really works or gives the community a sense of 'Take That you Botting, Cheating, no-good... ' (you get the idea)

To point out that some high levels bots have been removed is appreciated, alas they would have been running for so long that the damage they all did to the economy probably effected everyone.

I would unfortunately have to advise players who slay to try to avoid grotworms or "bot worms" as they have been amusingly referred too. As well as watch out for ranging bots at the Aberrant spectres in the slayer tower.

Yes we know where the bots are - yes Jagex you all know where they are - they are in their respective areas for many weeks if not months before getting kicked -so why is it soo hard to actually deal them that much needed kick?

Anyone any thoughts?

Just so I can pass on the message to players who ask me?

Thanks

I totally agree with Tarim2008. There are so many bots: the Runecrafting Guild on World 61 has only bots; the oaks east of Draynor bank suddenly started being chopped by bots, so the oak prices have dropped from 108 gp each to a mere 82 gp; the Grand Exchange is full of bots advertising things; the Runespan is full of botters using it as a quick way to get runecrafting xp.

Jagex has been saying about how it is doing a good job catching bots: the "claws of justice" catch macroers who use a bot to display text; "botany bay" does a public trial; and they have been posting threads all over about the good job they are doing. From my experience, there are just more and more bots. There was a time when I tried to enter Great Orb Project games, but I don't anymore, because it is impossible to get in because of the sheer number of bots. A few times, I sat there reporting them, asking them if they were bots first. I kept seeing the same names coming around; no human would be on for that amount of time.

Jagex, you need to actually do something about it.

A possible idea, on getting rid of bots.

Go to the clans ask them to help you, there are loads of registered clans, with large numbers of members.

Offer rewards.
Possible rewards:

Unique items for citadels, maybe.

The bots are out ransacking the whole of runescape.

Other ideas,

Hold bot killing events.
today the ancient cavern, tomorrow grotworms, i'm just suggesting things to give you ideas, i don't have the solutions to bots, but maybe ideas that could work, with enough thought put into it.

Make bot killing events a fun thing to do, so all runescape members can get involved.

You have a great game here, that i have enjoyed for quite sometime, it's a shame to see it like this.

As for banning maxed members, these people should have known better, good job!
Keep attacking the bots, when you decide on a concentrated effort.
Lets us know. ;)

Bots were around years ago when I first played Runescape (different character at the time) We had random evens supposedly to deal with the bots. It didn't work. The beloved random events changed from the Drunken Dwarf, the Evil Plant, the River Troll (I miss these events) and the Sandwich Lady to Evil Bob's Island, the Drill instructor, and others that were fun (diversions from whatever you were doing at the time) The maze was the only difficult one (still fun). These still didn't help with the bot's. There have been mass bannings before and all it does is make more bots that have better scripts than the ones that were banned.

The only way to effectively deal with the bots will be an immediate (within at least a few minutes) response from a Mod when a report is made. The that Mod needs the power to send a break message to suspected bot (like the pop up for buying a yearly membership) the suspected bot needs to answer the Mod or be immediately banned along with ALL other accounts associated with that character for at least a 6 month ban.

All other steps that have been previously taken (since the start of Runescape) have had no effect on the Bots why should we believe that any steps currently being taken will have any better effect than what has been done in the past.

ive played runescape for many years often havign to make new accounts after intermissions of quitting the game after botters ruin the economy cus itd be like 6 months and id forget my account details but i fail to see how you dont catch theese botters its SO easy to spot them ive looked at the bot makers websites looked at their scripts they arnt complex its simple code thats easy to detect so why arnt they banned? i can name TONS of areas that all you got to do is log into that area for 5 seconds as a mod and you can ban 50-60 + people in seconds but yall dont do it you say you have anti bot stuff ur programs are a joke i could write better anti bot after staying up for a week straight and crazy from lack of sleep insted of relying on your "antibot" stuff do some manual labor i could name tons of areas right now that if you log on at all points in time of the day botters are there
1) the G.E. tons of auto talkers
2) peru pero (or whatever)
3) dungeneering
4)catherby fishing
5) seers village woodcutting maples
6)lumbridge cows chickens
7)grotworms
8)blue dragons
9)green dragons ive never seen less then 100 bots at wildy green dragons at any one time want proof they are bots? spawn a dragon done on the ground and watch the lag spike as 100 players run to the same square in unison
10)the sorceresses garden
11) chins
12)soul wars
13)stealing creation
14) everyother minigame
the list goes on and on the only people who bealive you guys actually catch bots are the ones who are like 7 years old thinking if someone says they are doing something its true, make any one of us honest players mod for 1 day sure 9/10 would spawn themselfs a phat cus they always wanted one but there that last person who rilly just wants to play a game with out gold farmers and botters and spam and scammers and all the other stuff that is everyday runescape, so please we know you wont make us mods so go to these areas once a week and ban these noobs once a week is all we ask

I agree that there has to be more of an immediate action to these. With these distanced bot nukes you're never really going to keep up with them all. They're in every single world. I think you guys would either have to try to come up with a better "code" that would make it harder to run botting programs or just improve your anti-bot forces by maybe having some sort of bot monitors or more pmods.

Glad you guys are keeping them in mind. They really do ruin the game for most people, including myself. Best of luck with them.

Does anyone really believe that high level players are being banned ? as suggested if this were the case they should be able to list them. Point number 2, does anyone know of high level players being banned ? maybe from your friends list or hiscores. Point 3, bots make up a huge percentage of income for jagex, would you be daft enough to halve your income if you ran the company ?
I believe that this kind of post from a mod is just to placate / fool us but as bots are on the increase not decrease, it does not fool me, sorry.
