Alistair Rockstar would be better
How/Why would that be "better"?
You never really listed any reasons why theres something wrong with the current name.
Indeed.
In addition I would like some explanation of the reasons for these statements...
'Calling everybody "Ali" is quite simply offensive, borderline racist'
'Same for "Tribesman" and "Gypsy" being renamed, as this was borderline racist'
'There is still an NPC with the name Aligra Nite - is incredibly offensive -his name has been made into a pun of the simple function he performs in this game. Very dehumanizing and heartlessly shameful'
Jagex has already explained why those were inappropriate. This thread is not to discuss that, just to recognize the inconsistency in applying this line of thinking.
Buy Zemomarks / Chromatic Partyhats safely here
1. There is still an NPC with the name Aligra Nite
2. This update was never applied to OSRS
The first is incredibly offensive
Ignoring the Ali bit which has already been discussed at length... it's not dehumanising at all, it's traditional.
Many surnames are originally derived from peoples professions, e.g. "Cooper" is what barrel makers are known as, "Smith" speaks for itself (and is the commonest English surname)
There are many, many more including Butler, Hunter, Mason, Fisher, Brewer, etc. etc.
If you find that offensive you'd have to apply it to people like King Arthur; his name describes his job too.
If it's the puns that offend you, why no mention of the White Knights?
Who's the cat that won't cop out when there's danger all about?
