In a recent stream the dev was talking about Masterwork armor. The intention was to make it so 'difficult' that most players wouldn't even do it. Instead most players made their own set.
IMO that highlights the problem with skilling. What can a skiller do that a 'multi-purpose' player can't or won't do?
Where is the value, where will the money come from? What is the skiller making or gathering?
Another problem is Croesus. There is a skilling boss, but it includes all the annoying features of combat. It's automatically bad, and who exactly is the target player base for that content? IF you like that, you would LOVE to play combat endlessly. It makes little sense.
If there were highly interactive activities like solo skilling boss encounters, would the skillers even participate? I can come up with a dozen fun concepts, but what is the reward? How does that make you money, and why can't everyone get it?
Edit: I just realized Croesus fits the description of being so bad most players wouldn't do it. If that's how it has to be then count me out. It probably explains why Runescape is so supportive of Croesus trolling.
