Bucket,

As soon as we confronted the Mod in question, he resigned from the company before he could be fired, and likely before Jagex even got the info and proof we gave them.

That's fine and dandy, good riddence. But, the account that had literally 1 million dragon bone certs (5 million bones, 43k certs was 1-99 prayer) and millions of other certs, along with several stacks of 2.147 billion gold (which prior had never even been seen) obviously completely destroyed the Classic market for the remainder of its days.

What had and still has me heated is the fact that the player the Mod was leaking recovery details to was never punished, and was allowed to continue to dump what he had already obtained rather than Jagex taking action and stopping the economic collapse of a game already crippled by their ignorance.

Even up until the final day of Classic, the ONLY form of currency that was not severely crippled were the discontinued Holliday items.

Thus, they basically became the only form of currency.

I know is not exactly what you're looking for, but I certainly can't post ALL of the information we sent Jagex, which would seal the deal for you, simply because everything omitted is personal information not allowed here.

While I would love for EVERYONE to rally up and fight for Classic, the point of this entire rant was moreso to say that Jagex's reasonings for the closure was solely monetary, and to just pop in and drop a bomb like "Hey, everything you've worked on for 17 years is being deleted and you get absolutely nothing for it" then ghost was just plain wrong.

Even player/forum moderators have resigned due to the way they have treated us.

What's happened to Classic and it's community is a downright disgrace, and it's so much worse than anyone that didn't play the game thinks it is.

Where did jagex say they denied letting you host a rsc server? Can I get a link?

Am I allowed to post Twitter links here? I'll have to dig and find it, as I've been in contact with Jagex for a few weeks now; it's buried in there somewhere. (Still learning how to Twatter lol)

I don't agree with Jagex's shutdown of classic, but there is certainly some truth to Jagex's claim that the aging code was a security issue.

This is a friend of mine using classic to send garbled text. This is AFTER a fix which shut down classic servers temporarily, to prevent it from sending even MORE text. It was used to mess with streamers. Amusing, maybe, but still potentially dangerous.

Here's a clip from inside classic, which shows a lot more text.

Between that, and the crystal chest bug, (and the servers never being taken down, meaning that the bug is never fixed on a reset) meant the game was in a huge state of disrepair, on top of the alleged jmod issues you've described.

The fact is, as time goes on, the code becomes more and more vulnerable to exploits. This isn't the code wearing down or anything, it's just the nature of the code being under more scrutiny, and people understanding how to abuse it.

Funorb games had their chat completely segregated from the main runescape servers, runescape players could message them, but funorb players could not message back, due to certain glitches on the funorb chat which allowed people to impersonate moderators, crown and all. Rather than fix the issue on funorb, they just blocked it off.

As more and more time passed, and runescape classic in a crippled state, and with jagex unwilling or unable to modify the code, they shut it down.

Should they? Of course not, they should have had one or two dedicated Jmods to funorb and classic, have someone understand the code and work with it. It's a real shame that they let the game get to that point in the first place, and they let their roots wither and die without any support.

I think the best way for classic to come back is as a solo that could also be played on personal servers, kind of like minecraft (doesn't it also run off java)?

Jagex should sell the game, some admin tools to modify the map and area, let people go wild with the game code and make their own worlds and tools for classic. If jagex would do that, maybe they could hire someone who learns enough about the code, maintain their own little officially-sanctioned server, and see where that leads.

Nah rs is a MMO and should stay a MMO IMHO.

Thus making it SP wouldnt be a wise move as it being MP is one of the reasons its made so much money.

Classic. Classic isn't an mmo anymore, is it? ;)

Also, like I said, it would have multiplayer available along with admin tools.
