Whoever said that needs to be told that WoW private server emulation exists very publicly.
I can, and have deployed private servers for classic, TBC, WotLK, and even plan on another Classic server in the near future. Even with being able to do this, I've also bought all xpacs up to Shadowlands, and have paid a subscription for WoW. Private server software and numerous public private servers don't stop me from paying for the real thing when I want to. If anything, private servers help keep my interest in the main games.
Let me host or play RSC in some official capacity! Jagex should be thankful I'd even be interested in playing one of their games, especially as old as RSC is. What good is not letting me play RSC doing? Why let any game dissolve into nothing instead of just letting interested people play it? Surely Jagex isn't waiting until they

make OSRS more unrecognizable just to come out and give RSC as some kind of distraction? RSC is a RS IP. Maybe I go make RSC videos, and get new people interested in OSRS and RS3?
I don't know the server infrastructure for RSC, but I doubt they couldn't just buy a Raspberry Pi and run a RSC server on it in the back of a closet somewhere. It's not as if RSC would have huge server and bandwidth load initially, and they can scale it up later if it needed. But since that is clearly too much for a small indie company charging subs close to AAA games, just let people play a single-player or self-hosted server for it and be done with it. RSC needs no updates. It just needs to be playable, at least for starters.
No Jagex, you aren't going to make millions off of selling RSC or revitalize your company lol. You can't even do that with OSRS today

Maybe there is some hope looking at the recent profile, looking at the latest 'Jagex-Logo' and not the oldest of Jagex's early days.
Remember ... Andrew Gower needed to be released from Jagex/RuneScape because of a 'personal project' Andrew had to complete not getting into conflict with his work for Jagex/RuneScape.
