Every player their game & gamestyle ... I ask myself ' ... was it possible at all'?
What people seem to forget is is that hardware & software rapidly does change and changes soo much that if you wanna keep RuneScape Classic running as how it was designed to run (under those specific hardware & software circumstances) it would crash one way or the other.
Long ago I saw specific computer games (cd-versions) becoming crippled games because Microsoft changed a lot, making these games unplayable.
Todays changes in hardware & software does not only make games unplayable on our new computers and todays phones but also become unplayable on the servers of The Internet.
There is no guarantee that your 'Old Computer' can catch up with newer servers and other computers.
I do understand the sadness & sentiment of players about RuneScape Classic missing their so precious game they started with but to make RuneScape Classic playable in todays Internet World '
the game should be rewritten from start to finish before it can be released ... hooked on again on The Internet.
'
The question should be ... would you accept a new version of RuneScape Classic in todays World of Internet?
The computer-speed back in the day isn't the same alike today ...

Java is still around and thriving, it's a simple java-based game with simple coding. Plenty of talented people to help out there for minimal amounts, or free! That's the beauty of RSC, it's almost like working on an older vehicle as opposed to a brand new one. Simple
Thanks everyone for the support throughout the years!
When the Gowers sold the company they also sold out on any promises they made to the community. It's not the fault of Jagex that the Gowers made promises and then left the company. If they wanted to keep good on their promises they could have stayed, instead they took a big paycheck.

In todays world of innovation and ownership/co-ownership things sometimes become impossible to maintain for the good health of said product and protection of its community.
There's no doubt that the Gowers made promises and would love to keep those but you also have to understand that you have to cope with The Entertainment Industry and how that is run which might make things impossible at the moment.
The Gowers did not sold out and left for the Bahama's as people say, changes in The Entertainment Industry world wide forced changes to be made as how they were made to save RuneScape for The RuneScape Community and leave it to run well for the future.
Been following this thread since the start. Good to see you're still active on here Rob. I too have quit playing RS in general since Classic was closed down. Here's to hoping we see it make a comeback one day.
