@Mhopkins1, Hi, welcome back to the forums! You were not alone in your dismay about being directed offsite to vote in the 'Ninja Backlog Prioritisation' either. It appears that very sentiment was also expressed not only RSOF by others but on Twitter & on Reddit as well.

Tbh, it is a bit ironic to associate a backlog with the term ninja fixes since it appears that term was coined to mean something that takes a small amount of time to fix...

Again..."backlog" correlates to your "'Round-Tuit" explanation...and has been
smelling, for some time.

This in itself, would not be so bad, if other actions were not so prohibitive.

People can understand much with patience, if given a fair playing field....
But if not, it erodes any Trust that might exist for any process.

This particular "Vote" was announced & taken over a 3day period, I might add...

Thanks.

QA Analyst Could you do it?

Commentary

The job posting for the Jagex QA Analyst position on the Jagex website also includes a section with the heading of 'You Will'. Under that section is the following bullet point:

'Communicate with players through forums and social media channels'

As noted by the posting comparisons that have been done, it appears that the communicating with players on social media appears to be the overall current status quo & preference.

However, when it comes to communicating with players on forums, which is hosted on the companies official website, it appears that communicating with players on the forums has become somewhat of a lost art form.

Communication on forums appears to be insufficient in most cases & nonexistent in other cases in comparison to the time spent during work hours on social media platforms. This is not to say that there are not a few who truly do put the official forums first because there are & their forum profiles & the posting comparisons attest to that fact. This is also not an arbitrary assumption on my part either but rather an opinion based on supporting documentation.

It is clear from the wording of the 'You Will: Communicate with players through forums and social media channels' sentence that the company expects its employees to communicate on its official website too. The sentence does not indicate that time spent communicating with players during work hours should only be done through the use of social media platforms. Nor does it appear to indicate that the communication time spent should only be allotted to only social media platforms either.

I feel for a new employee that may try to adhere to that sentence & try to put the official website first since it would be hard for a new employee to go against the status quo.

Maybe the sentence should read, 'Communicate with players through forums and on social media channels' if that is the intent.

Mac and NXT PSA

Reddit - Mac and NXT PSA: How to get 2.2.3 working as intended submitted 11 hours ago by Mod Dolan (20)

OP: Hey all, As you are probably aware, recently with the launch of NXT 2.2.3 being able to launch multiple clients on Mac was one of the main features. This update was launched with an unforeseeable issue with the runescape.app. Mac does something weird with their applications, instead of launching a new app, it focuses the current open app. How we launch the game when testing is via the RS-Launch URL this unfortunately bypasses the start application code which is currently not working as smoothly as we anticipated. The solution is to launch RuneScape via the Play now button on the RuneScape website. This will not only allow you to launch multiple clients but it will also launch the client so much quicker!

Sorry for any disruption this may have caused I expect this to be fixed by 2.2.4 which will be released later in the month.

TL;DR - Opening RuneScape via the website will allow NXT to work properly on Mac with 2.2.3. http://www.runescape.com/game?jptg=ia&jptv=navbar

Cheers, Dolan

NUMBERS

JANUARY 2017

Naysayers beware. You might not want to read this post if you think that the forums are dead. Especially if you are one of those naysayers who use the active user counter at the top of the forum as the means to support that contention.

There is more than one way to gauge forum activity than the useless active user counter at the top of the forum. The active user counter matrix has been out of kilter since the forum reskin, which was a awhile ago, thus making it useless as a point of contention.

Early on in this thread, Erehk & Wilf had provided some numbers that are insightful into how many threads & posts that had been made within the forum during a given time. This method of measuring activity provides a different perspective on form activity. This type of measuring activity tends to dispel the notion that the forums are dead too.

As you will notice these snapshots only includes the generalized forums. I did this for conformity in keeping with the same standard used for the 24 Hour Posting Comparisons.

The two images of the spreadsheet compiles the data into a monthly total for threads created & posts made to the generalized forums. Totals do not include threads or posts made to the Rants forum or any of the specialized forums. The January totals do not include any posts made in January to the seasonal forum Sliske's Christmas Adventure either. [1]

January 2017 Total:

9,290 Threads were created in the generalized forums in January 2017 [1]
182,827 Posts were made in the generalized forums in January 2017 [1]

December 2016 Total:

8,578 Threads were created in the generalized forums in December 2016.
204,432 Posts were made in the generalized forums in December 2016.

@Wilf, Hi, even without including the rants forum, the specialized forums thread & post count totals or the carry over post count from the seasonal forum Sliske's Christmas Adventure forum for January, the forum appears to be very healthy to me. Once again it appears that RSOF exceeds Reddit in both the thread creation & post count totals.

Here are the numbers broken down by section per your request.
