Yeeeeees. Even the Ninjas have now decamped to the chaotic, clique-influenced hellhole that is Reddit.

Is it just a question of time, I wonder, before the final catastrophic haemorrhage of JMod involvement here takes place and the RSOF flat-lines.

I think the answer is in the affirmative. Otherwise, why force people to also go to Reddit in order to vote instead of allowing it here and incorporating it into the results.

I, for one, will not be forced. RIP my feather.

@FiFi, Hi, it appears per the posting comparisons done previously, like Elvis, the Ninjas have left the building a long time ago.

IMO, RSOF will never flat line since it is linked with the RuneScape brand & is known for being the gateway for all things RuneScape.

One thing I do know about the new owners of Jagex is that they are conservative in practice & are extremely efficiently oriented. It does not appear that they have any issues with restructuring or outsourcing certain aspects or functions of a company that are not operating properly.

RSOF vs. REDDIT POSTING COMPARISON

DATE TIMELINE: 09 Jan 2017 - 25 Jan 2017


Commentary

The following posting comparison is a bit different from the previous comparisons that I have done since I have expanded the time frame used. The format is also different as it is presented in a standard black & white block style format which is a visually oriented format commonly used in audits.

The data presented should allow the reader a starting point to determine if the uptick in gold posts being made to RSOF that I had mention in previous posts is the beginning of a steady uptick of gold being posted to RSOF or not.

One thing that this format did appear to highlight, more so than the previous posting comparisons, was the fact that the amount of information that does not make it to RSOF is

@FiFi, Hi, I agree that all three of your examples tend to indicate a push to draw users away from Jagexs Official website. It appears there are several issues here that are worthwhile to note though about this short helter skelter saga.

We need to go back in time a few years ago, to the beginning of 2013 or so. This is when it appears that the skewed notion that social media platforms were not a means to draw users to the official website but were rather micro communities that needed to be catered to began to develop. This skewed notion of how social media is utilized by a business was not how Jagex approached social media prior to that.

The assurance that Jagex had given to the community about the official Jmod Twitter accounts when Jagex began to use them fell to the wayside over time. Jagex did assure the community that the Jmod Twitter accounts would only be used as a means for communicating 'after work hours'. Jagex gave the community this assurance because the community was concerned that without proper checks & balances the use of individual twitter accounts would harm the official forums. It is pretty obvious that those early concerns proved true.

Facebook is a bit different in the sense that the official RS FB account can only be accessed at the office according to what Mod Stevew had posted in the past. I don't think that has changed just by looking at the time stamps. RS FB was used in the early days to post 'teasers' that directed the FB user to the forums. It appears that it is still utilized in that same manner today.

As you have mentioned the OPN | Win an Amazon Echo competition (Qfc 254-255-547-65877785) thread that directs the RSOF user to FB to enter that contest a few things come into play here. One is that Jagex is actively marketing their new audio game based on RS for Amazon’s Alexa voice-based intelligent personal assistant devices. Second, it appears that even though RS FB page shows 1,019,540 FB followers, it appears that the RS FB page is just not as popular as it once was. All you need to do is take a peek at the comment sections on the RS FB page. This would be a viable gauge for activity.

One way to draw users to RS FB again would be to post the 'Mod Kelpie reveals the Top 10 Ninja Fixes' there too since everyone & their mother were probably waiting for that information to be posted to Reddit. This also would allow the typical Reddit user to enter the competition too. Kinda like killing two birds with one stone.

However, that type of helter skelter marketing rarely pays off in the end. The key is to draw social media users to the official website which is the cornerstone for the products & services & plays a key role in the fundamental growth of the brand. Perhaps someone should of read the Jagex Press Release which, btw, you will note, directs users to the RS website.
