As the person who manages resourcing for the Player Support team, I can tell you that having PS look after the forums just isn't something we can do.

We've got a whole host of things on our plate - some of them mentioned in the recent Account Security & Services blog, and some other things behind-the-scenes. PS also recently took over the management of the Inactive Clan Leaders thread.

We also maintain the Support Centre and look after PMods, Community Helpers, as well as recruitment for those groups. There's so many other things that we do, as well as dealing with our BAU ticket work.

And honestly, even if we had capacity, the low traffic on the forums means that our presence here wouldn't have the biggest impact. I know many of you have been around for years, and are understandably quite nostalgic about the forums. But the reality is that players prefer to use other platforms - Reddit, Twitter, Discord - and so any PS involvement is likely to go into those channels.

There aren't any plans to replace FMR, or for an alternative. The current FMod team have decades of experience between them, and are generally trusted to make the right call. FMods can also peer review each other's actions and discuss among themselves if any issues crop up.

I know it's probably not what you want to hear - but that's the honest answer!

I do, but as you can see you've unlocked it yet the fmods decided to keep it locked after radio posted on forum help.

"The decision to lock the thread was a group decision . The thread will not be unlocked."

We're all human, and sometimes we don't make the right call. In this example - a long standing player who's put so much effort into creating a 100+ page guide - having a single thread on the forums wasn't really doing any harm

That's why I said, generally, FMods make the right call. But we're all human. And as much as you'd like to see a formal review process in place - we just can't justify the resource due to low forum traffic and having a moderation team that are trusted

Anyway, it's the final of The Apprentice tonight so have a good one!

Thank you for all the responses, Alex ^_^

While it may not be common knowledge now, but there was a point in time, roughly 7 years ago where there were issues between myself and the green team, and had FMR not been around then, it would be a nightmare, however I am fully accepting of it's removal now.

The current team of greenies have been there for eons and no doubt know all the ins and outs of every single little detail in the rules, as well as their own private guidance to follow. None of us are ever going to know what it is, but I'm content in knowing that they'll follow those guidelines set to them and ensure everything is kept fair - after all, if things aren't kept fair, even more people are going to leave the forums, and make it even more derelict than it already is, and no one wants that.

Slightly off-topic, and apologies for that Arch, but if it's something you can answer Alex, what's happening with the High Level Forums, and the removal of the access thread?

Success is not final, failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.

I think this is the right call for FMods to peer review each other. I'd go as far as to suggest that the FMod team manage themselves completely, with just occasional Jagex input for the necessary mechanisms - much like we do on Discord, though that's a conversation for a different thread.

To echo Adam: we can trust the FMods to ensure everything is kept fair.

Actually it was. It was breaking some rules/mods opinion (naturally we can't see these rules) and as such had to be dealt with.

also worth noting if Radio hadn't posted on here and I hadn't agreed with them the thread would still be locked (possibly) and potentially they may never have posted again. Even now there is no guarantee they'll return. I honestly can't believe I'm seeing this from a support mod no less.
