Do we really need a designated Community Led Tech Support Forum when certain RSOF users are making multiple threads about the same technical problem(s) over different forums. Some are even bumping up other users' thread even though the OPs haven't responded for quite a while.

Should we just remove the Community Led Technical Support Forum if it doesn't have any purpose? Please discuss. :)

It's definitely rarely ever used by either helper/forum teams, and I personally rarely direct people to create a new thread nor report bumps to FH. I think this enables the issue to carry on, so I appreciate your thread is a bit of a wakeup call. :P
If you lot think its purpose is lost or want it merged into an existing forum, that is all fine by me.

ps. i meant to only discuss tech forum in this post, every other support forum is well moderated and used by both teams.

I won't say the forum I mentioned is rarely used by either helper/forum teams as the first page of it are all of posts updated within one day. Evidently, users and the helper/forum teams know of its existence and purpose but still, they are making duplicate and bumping dead threads of the same topic over every forum, and the helpers/forum teams just prefer not to direct the traffic to the unified Community Led forums.

That said, if the Community Led forums have no purpose now and the helpers/forum teams don't even want to direct users with the same issues over to the right place, I'll suggest the only sensible solution is to remove all the Community Led Forums (Tech Support, Accounts and Billing) so we don't need that much help from the Community Helper/Forum Team.

The original idea of the Community Led Forums is great as they give a centralized place for people to tackle and solve their problems with the help of the Community. However, they certainly have lost their purpose when the Community is unwilling to direct the users in need to go over to the right place so they can be helped in the best and most orgainized way. In other words, the existence of the Community Led Forums now only means more duplicate if not spam threads of the same topic, and the obviously question is why should they still exist?

Well the forums still have their purposes, I guess there will always be people looking for account/tec/billing support, but tech forum in particular is pretty much abandoned by everyone except for Hmm, Pinguicula and a few other forumers residing in there.

We rarely ever bring anything to FH, so that's why I think people are enabled to cause slight havoc here and there. I think this is the most significant issue really and as a resident poster in there I'll take blame for enabling/continuing thread derailment. :P

I've been active in those forums for ten years, I don't get the claim no one ever visits it. Last year I responded to 20 percent of the threads ever made in that subforum until I actively told myself to not bother as much.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the forum itself and everything wrong with jagex. Its the community lead forum, and not supposed to be the community only forum, where issues are hidden away and never looked at by people who have the ultimate ability to fix them

I actively avoid posting these days unless it's Linux related issues where I can actually reliably help, because the normal posts of update drivers for 10 years burn you out when people start making fights over your advice not working.

But I'd very much be in favour of removing the linux sticky, the source of massively out dated information people still try and spread like gospel.

I don't mean people bring anything to FH. What I mean is the Forum Helpers/Team don't bring the discussion over to their proper "home" - the Community Led Forums. And I want to know why???

I think they just don't come across of it, but that is where I'd blame myself for not making any attempt to move the conversation into the correct section or at least hint them to post there.
Some people do this but I don't. Lazy me. :P

I want to say that I'm annoyed by duplicate threads too as getting support for the same issue in two places makes it awfully confusing. O_o
That and old threads getting bumped is something we can help negate by using FH more often!

Good points, and thanks for all your contributions to this day. :)

Instead of using FH all the time, we can just tell those users once the Community Led forums exist as we do have a Community before using FH... but I made this comment only under the assumption the Community Helpers really think we have a RSOF community.

I stopped helping in account help shortly after the Jmods left, All I was doing was sending people to FAQs and answering questions already on the RS homepage, similarly (but not entirely with tech support, if it isn't on the forum submit a query via tech ticket and a Jmod will respond anyway, making the player support forums fairly useless, as info is literally over the website or wiki
I wish I liked Quests as much as I love AFKing

FAQs have different scenarios too. If we have experienced the same problems and found the fix, we can certainly still help.
