Think of what would have happened if they weren't there to protect us. That one thread, could have grown into a huge thread! Then we would have all been in danger. Luckily, they were there to slice and dice it into 7 smaller threads, which are easier to kill. The xp isn't as good, but, it's not always about the xp.
It really was as simple as someone asking for clarification / a discussion of the rules.
That is literally all that you are missing.
As to why it caused such a reaction - you must use your imagination.
But look at the glee with which certain FMods are now talking of actioning rule-breakers and you will get a clue. Lol.

When a user is forum banned, is an inbox message sent explaining the ban?
I'm still waiting for an answer to this. I know years ago, an inbox message was sent when a ban was issued. Is this still the case?

We have not had a memo that that has changed.
Comprehensive Account Security
Because the person controlling the throw-away account never accepted the response, very rebellious behavior. Given many chances and explained that the issue is no longer under the jurisdiction of the fmods, it was already escalated.
Don't use a throw-away account after throw-away account to get your point across: that is not how the forum is designed for.
