Hey, I was browsing the list of Forum Mods because I've got far too much time on my hands out of curiosity and noticed there was a fair few names that I didn't recognise seeing around recently. Looking deeper, it turns out over one third of forum mods (23 out of 66) haven't posted in over a month, 13 haven't posted in three months and 5 haven't posted in over half a year. There was also one with one post this year, in January, one with only one post still available on the forums and another who didn't have any threads at all in their profile!

Some of them you see on the list are much less active on the English forums if English isn't their first language. The little drop down at the bottom-right of the page switches between the forums for different countries/languages. :)

Ah, that would explain it! I do admit I was somewhat suspicious of my own findings when I found an FMod with apparently 50 forum posts. :P Thankyou for clearing that up for me! My last post can now be disregarded

Is the old Monsters forum image still saved in the Jagex database? I always get confused between the Forum Roleplay and Stories and the Runescape Lore Discussion Forum due to having identical symbols next to their forum titles. I figure the Monsters image would be an easier fix than asking for a new design to be made, and seeing as the old Roleplaying image doesn't really suit the new forum now that it's been fused with Stories. @Mexk that's a weak argument and I'm sure you know it is.

In fact I'd have thought it would have been the other way round Ebola not being as well known is less likely to upset people if they don't know what it is, but cancer we are more aware of and as such know that it can kill us and there is a chance we may end up with it and as such upset us.

As for what happened on the Ebola threads they were much better than the 'breast cancer threads.

Ebola thread would probably die after a few days whereas the cancer thread is bumped for a month as a constant reminder of how we can be struck down.

So...

It boils down to it being a case of we'll do what we want regardless of the rules.

Like a couple of years ago when somebody made a thread for Leukemia cancer month (September) and it was locked due to causing upset, yet at the same time the 'breast cancer thread had been created in the general forum.

As for posting on the review thread yer do you honestly think they'd even consider opening my thread lol? I do find it funny that a volunteer forum mod has offered a far more comprehensive response than a paid employee, but then again I can't say as I'm surprised.

Cheers.

Dudes don't get to talk about udders when it comes to Leukemia. That is why.

If I'm given a rule that is enforced based on the upsetting of players then the level of upset caused needs to be quantified, and if a thread is locked for causing upset and another thread on the same/comparable disease is left open it tells me there is a disparity in the enforcement of that rule. If then the reasoning given suggests the level of upset caused will be lessened based on certain factors I will attempt to rebuke that, using those factors as a means to prove my point if possible.

I have heard a similar argument made to the response you got once before.
Go to YouTube and look up 'Good A**S bad A**S'
Brass Eye is not usually used as a reference for morals but I guess you've gotta run with what you've got.
Of course, Chris Morris was mocking the kind of casual, lazy bigotry that leads to these post-hoc rationalisations of such blatant, indefensible hypocrisy.

I'm not sure why you even bothered to ask for clarification tbh.
The one thing that the 'clarification' made clear to me is that we are not allowed to discuss it (Silly Wilf - He's had too much to think!), but our beloved thought-police are.
There is no reasoning behind anything in here. They have a voice, we dont.
You know that lol

A cynic might suggest the real reason is a little darker.
Bre-ast cancer? Have a thread, some sympathy and a load of cookies.
Prostate cancer? Sorry, wrong gender. SJWs have no interest in you. Take that, patriarchy!
Ebola? Wrong skin colour. Tough luck!

You might have more luck with ovarian cancer. Lol
