i would like to see the lazy mods read the emails we send in and atleast respond to them. back on feb 13th 2013 i lost my maxed acct due to a java game crash when i tried to play rs07. jagex is trying to tell me i was botting but wont even answer my emails or even look into it. must be they want to wait till i offer to buy the acct back.

Hey there,

Unfortunately, any requests concerning them looking into botting or macroing offences are not being looked at. Please see this extract from the support centre:

"We do not add macro bans to accounts unless we are 100% certain in our decision and as such, we do not currently respond to email, tickets, appeals or tweets regarding macro bans."

You can find this at: services.runescape.c om/m=rswiki/en/My_account_is_banned
followed by clicking on "You didn't respond to my appeal / email" :)

Speaking of cookies....

HTTP Requests big. Web team smash!
Author:
sixcorners
Summary:
The number of cookies sent in each http request is gigantic. If they are all absolutely necessary then I suggest you move static resources to a different domain so that requests to those resources are smaller. Cookies follow the domain so serving static resources from a different domain will prevent all that cookie data from being sent for every tiny image.
Pros and Cons (optional)
less bytes transmitted
less tracking performed

I would like to see the Grand Exchange portion of the website repaired or (re-)improved.

1) For example, it was formerly possible to enter the search terms "ore, bar, coal, nature" and receive back a list of
all
the RS items which matched
any
of those search terms. In other words, I could look at the price & price trends for coal, runite ore, and nature runes, then compare them to those for runite bars, and decide whether or not I wished to buy supplies & superheat runite bars. It is no longer possible to do this. Now the GE search engine looks only for items that match
all
of the search terms; typing in "ore, bar, coal, nature" now returns a result of "no items found matching your search". Instead we have to search for each of those items individually, which is an inefficient, overly-complex hassle.

2) There are certain items which you cannot even search for on the GE website anymore (namely some of the discontinued items).

3) I personally make an effort use correct spelling, but it also seems like the GE website has become less forgiving of misspellings*

**;dr Improve functionality of the GE website, and
don't mess up the functionality the next time the RS website is updated.

Thanks :)

Hi Sixcorners,

I agree with you to some extent, but to be honest, as far as the user experience is not at a loss, it is JaGeX's concern how they want to manage the cookies and the session tracking. And I don't think the requests are that big, I don't find any difficulty loading the HTMLs even on a basic connection

Although, I do agree that JaGeX needs to improve the session tracking; especially here on the forums.

Please see the post below ;)

Fix Login

Hey Jagex,
Please Please Please fix the website login, I'm one of those people that constantly multi-task, I want to be able to open 20 forum threads and read through them, I then would like to be able to reply to each but at the moment all I'm ever confronted with is the need to login yet again for each new tab etc. Logging into the website just doesn't persist nearly long enough nor well enough and it's meant to be something basic.

If I click an option to remember my login, why not remember it either until I remove my logins from my browser or after say a 30 day period? At the moment the forums especially are just hellish to use, I even had to login again just to post this.

This isn't a particularly difficult issue to fix, as almost every website I've ever used has at least got this much down. Now after all this I may aswell say at the same time that RS is great and I support ironman mode!

The only solution to this problem is, JaGeX could come out with session timeout pop-ups with a warning message. This functionality is available in most of the web applications which log the users out after a specific time.

Say for example, if the timeout is set at 20 minutes after login, on 15th minute, the user should get a pop-up with the following text:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"You have been inactive since last 15 minutes. Click 'OK' or you will be logged out after 5 minutes."

||COUNTDOWN TIMER||

||OK BUTTON||

Thank you very much for responding there, Sliskay! It looks like you are much more knowledgeable than me on some of those technical issues so will speak to you in game about formatting those into posts for the suggestions! Just letting you know, I am not back from my summer travels and have my laptop back! :D ....

Hey there Sassy! This sounds like you have some great ideas that could really improve the usability of the Grand Exchange which is awesome. I will actually be writing up three smaller suggestions to make sure each of them get a spotlight since they all deserve it! ;) Look out for the posts!

*
Pros
~

Misty Fuzzy: Allows for greater usability for formers allowing multiple tabs open at the same time for those avid forumers or those that wish to link threads etc!

~
Cons
~

Misty Fuzzy: Would this potentially create security risks?

Pros

Misty Fuzzy: Stops long posts from being lost as you aren’t aware of you being close to the time out and allows you to click ok and prevent you from having to log in again.

~
Cons
~

Misty Fuzzy: If you walk away from your computer (which you shouldn’t do without logging out) and someone else comes a long and presses ok this could create serious security risks to accounts.

Improvement to the Search Feature – Grand Exchange

Author:
Sassychassis
Summary:
“For example, it was formerly possible to enter the search terms "ore, bar, coal, nature" and receive back a list of all
the RS items which matched any
of those search terms.” Rather than it being the identical item needing to be searched, the ability to search for items more generically. Reduce the need for perfection in spelling in the Grand Exchange.

~
Pros
~

Sassychassis: Allows for easy comparison of prices, especially when superheating or other skills which require the knowledge of prices for multiple items.

Sassychassis: Simplifies a complex system.

Misty Fuzzy: Easier searching when you aren’t too sure how to spell something or struggle spelling.
