Hi all. I found a little problem and one other friend of mine had the same issue so I felt a need to post this. I was given a mute last week and found it very hard to find out why because I had no link to the offence. When I went to look on account management under account status I had in Red you you have a mute and for how many days. The problem was under that I had *Congratulations you have no active offences on your account*so I was unable to submit a appeal or even see what I did to get the mute. My Mute meter was fine etc, so I did find it a little frustrating and spent hours looking to try to find out what happened and why. Now I was told (not by a Jagex staff member) that it could have been a mute from a player mod or chat watch <--- not sure what that is to be honest. My Suggestion would be that in the help section at the top of account status you could explain what this scenario is, this way other players and myself will at least know whats going on and save on lots of time and frustration looking for a answer.

Thanks ;)

It was probably just chatwatch muting you by error. You must have said something very similar to an advertising bot, or some other banned words/phrase.

You won't see evidence because they don't want to help the bots get around it.

You might also think about changing your name, as it is extremely similar to that of a Forum Moderator. You may or may not get it changed for you otherwise.

edit...
Unless you had the name first!

Well the point I was making is that they should put this info chatwatch in the help section so that other player like me (who have never had a mute before) know that it a possibility. They do not have to state it in a offence just in the help section alone and leave out any details that would give info to gold sellers etc. I would have liked to have read that and think that could have been a possibility other then omg what did I do lol. As for my name I'm very sure that had nothing to do with it and have had this name for several years now and never had any problems.

I am Canadian and proud hehe ;)
ps thanks for the reply

I have been so hectic IRL, I am sorry I haven't been able to click the bump button or reply as often as I would like to.

Right now guys, promise not to hate me? It is summer and unfortunately it is the time of scout camps. I will be gone away to Norjam for 7 days then off to Bristol for three days to see penguins. Unfortunately I can't be sure of my internet connection or how often I will be able to come on the forums / in-game until the 21st. I am really sorry for this inconvenience and for anything that gets left, but it would be a great favour from you to me if you might help me out a little. If you guys can keep this thread going (as well as any others :P ) I would be eternally grateful. Stay awesome, and no house parties whilst mum's not home ;)

I will need to get back to you when I next can when I get back. I promise I will. It has been so hectic it is unreal. After this camp it should all stop. Expect pages of posts in replies!

Fix Login

Hey Jagex,
Please Please Please fix the website login, I'm one of those people that constantly multi-task, I want to be able to open 20 forum threads and read through them, I then would like to be able to reply to each but at the moment all I'm ever confronted with is the need to login yet again for each new tab etc. Logging into the website just doesn't persist nearly long enough nor well enough and it's meant to be something basic.

If I click an option to remember my login, why not remember it either until I remove my logins from my browser or after say a 30 day period? At the moment the forums especially are just hellish to use, I even had to login again just to post this.

This isn't a particularly difficult issue to fix, as almost every website I've ever used has at least got this much down. Now after all this I may aswell say at the same time that RS is great and I support ironman mode!

I actually agree with this a lot and will get typing this up into a suggestion for you. For avid forumers, it can get rather annoying I must say. The other thing is if you are writing a long post and the timer runs out (which is ridiculously short).

I understand it is for security reasons but perhaps there is still something they could sort with this if they haven't already done so with this post. For now, I can only suggest that if you are planning to read and reply to a lot of threads that perhaps you save them to favourites, or copy the addresses into a word document or notepad so you can just type those into the address bar. That way you won't have to log in again.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Just a lil update, this happens if you open multiple tabs and log in in one of them, the other tabs don't log in even after refreshing. Could this be improved?

I will add this as a suggestion beneath the one I replied to above once I have written them up. It is a good point. I am not sure if this would bring up security risks or isn't possible, but hopefully, fingers crossed, something can be improved!

Twitter feed on the homepage or a separate page with all verified Jagex account on it.

A twitter feed has been discussed a lot. I think there might have been something posted about this or spoken about in the past so I won't write this up just yet until I can just double check this. About the verified Jagex accounts on twitter, you can find the list of them linked in this thread .

Thanks for posting!

Hey there CG! Your name is not a problem at all and the reply already given to you is totally accurate as far as I am aware. Jagex have actually posted information about this issue in the Support Centre. Below is an extract taken directly from the support centre.

A Player Moderator, the automated 'Cha*Watch' system or a Jagex moderator may temporarily or permanently mute an account. This prevents the account from typing freely and restricts them to quick chat. In addition it prevents them from making forum posts or starting threads (see 'Forum Banned' below).

Player moderators' and Chat Watch actions are automatically enforced and are temporary (a player moderator mute lasts for a maximum of 48 hours). Typically before this expires (often within a few hours or so), these mutes will be reviewed by a Jagex Moderator. At this point evidence will be available via the 'Account Status' section of the Account Settings page and the player may have the ability to appeal it.

If the mute was inaccurate it will be removed by Jagex and the account will have no lasting mark. Internal review procedures are in place to improve both player moderators and the ChatWatch system.
