2) There are certain items which you cannot even search for on the GE website anymore (namely some of the discontinued items).

I decided not to add this one in the end. What items is this including and why are they needed?

Have I managed to post all of the suggestions up? Please tell me if I have missed one!!!

Christmas crackers and Partyhats cannot be searched for on the GE website, although it is possible to look them up on the "Most Valuable Trades" part. It is certainly possible to buy/sell those items on the GE, even though most of them are traded directly between players for item/cash combinations. There may be other items that are similar, but those are the ones for which I tested & received negative search results.

I feel that if an item can be sold on the GE, then we should be able to search for it on the GE website.

Thanks! :)

Email and Message center

I don't tend to open any Runescape or Jagex emails because they typically don't hold anything but news or MTX offers. However they do make me somewhat curious.

They're supposed to be using the message center for everything but that's kind of stopped aside from monthly-renewing membership notifications or offences, as far as I'm aware.

So I'm suggesting either that
they start sending personal codes in our message center whenever they send an email, and that code will be in the email message name
or
Send links in our message center for whatever it is they want to inform us of.

It's JAGeX's concern how everything happens here. What are we doing here? I'm suggesting a change to something that is JAGeX's concern. Are other people not doing that?
You should tell the people in the https channel that this site loads fine.
I have 45 cookies right now. That is being sent on every request. Every image, every player count update, everything. The https thread has someone raising complaints that this site is slow. He used to have dialup apparently. It's good to make the site faster not just for dialup users but also for mobile users.
I'm not suggesting any change to session tracking. I'm suggesting that those bits of information don't need to be sent for requests to things like the images of our character's faces.

A session expiry dialog is not the only way to solve the issue. Sassychassis suggested increasing the time a session is valid. Why is that not a solution to the problem? IMO a dialog box every 15 minutes would make this website far worse.

What is the criteria for inclusion in the list at the beginning of this thread? Why are Sliskay suggestions adopted day one without discussion and mine are not? I can put on my world guardian title too. :(

Hi sixcorners,

I recall saying that I 'DO' agree with you to some extent. But, from a developer's perspective, they HAVE to make this change to make the website look more, say, good-looking and user friendly? There are plenty of websites which run only with cookies enabled.

For the people with slow internet speeds, if you notice there is a teeny tiny link on the footer, directed to this very same issue called 'change cookie settings'. You can go read up, and they I believe they have listed 3 alternatives to cookies.

On a personal note, things in IT change at a very rapid pace, and as the world moves towards high internet speeds, you have to let go of some things. For example, 90+% of sites on internet now do not support IE5. Windows stopped supporting XP. So on and so forth. Would you like them to keep supporting the older versions of those browsers? It is hectic enough for peeps to support 5-6 widely used browsers around the globe. They HAVE to keep up with the new stuff.

Coming to the session tracking, the current system logs you off without any warning, so in that case, I think pop-ups are the best solution. Increasing the session time comes with a security risk - [and even with increased session time, the issue remains, you won't know exactly WHEN you were logged off - hence lose edited forum posts and things like that]

P.S. My suggestions are insta-accepted because I'm a god. :D :D

P.P.S. just kidding. :P

Thanks for getting back to me, sassychassis! I just went onto the Grand Exchange section and you can search for party hats now, but not the crackers. I am not entirely sure whether this is an improvement or something that was overlooked at all. I won't add it as a suggestion right now but I am going to try to get hold of someone to try and find what this is about! Look out for a response in the future!

Hey there, Bobbles.

I would just like to remind you that the emails can often be phishing attempts and checking out the support centre will have more information on this. Be careful! Clicking on links in emails or even opening them can mean that they receive your account details and that your computer can gain keyloggers. For this reason, I would definitely only use the message centre. Can I just clarify, would you suggest more news is given (maybe an opt in or opt out option?) in the message centre and use links there for advertising to prevent the risk of phishing emails and to keep it all in one place?

sixcorners,

There is no real criteria other than being a realistic and supported idea that is aiming to improve the site. Yours certainly does this but Sliskay is our technical guy for the thread so I let him take any of the technical cases because in all honesty, it is a foreign language for me! It isn't that your idea didn't meet the criteria, it is just that Sliskay is taking your suggestion and hopefully can write it up for us. I don't really understand how it works.

P.S He is also my god :P

SLISKAY

Please please please can you write up sixcorner's suggestion in a way that explains it both technically and simply! Pros and cons etc - exactly same format as the other posts? Tanks :)

This is regarding the World Map that can be downloaded on the RS website. I have made a thread and I am copy/pasting what I wrote there here.

---

So I just wanted to ask if it is possible for the ninja team or anyone else to create a downloadable version of the entire RuneScape map, with the best and highest quality, WITHOUT the icons, such as the bank, general store, etc. Just NO icons, nor names or anything on the map.

Make sure the map is:
-The highest quality it could be, so if you zoom close into the map, it doesn't get blurry. Similar to the in-game map button, when you zoom in, it stays sharp. So make sure the map is at that level of quality.

-Make sure it is the entire map, and not just parts of it, (obviously).

-Make sure there aren't any icons in it at all, words, or anything extra that is not a part of the map itself.

-This is optional, but since RS is a non-stop updating game, it would be nice if every time the world surface is updated, the download of the map could be updated as well, OR there could be a newer version, therefore saving the previous versions as well, it is your choice.

---

So if you guys can make this a reality, this will save me a LOT of time, as I am currently doing a 'project' and it involves using the entire world map of RS in the highest quality without icons.

Sadly none can be found, and I have to literally copy and paste print screens from the in-game map, and it's like a puzzle. I have difficulty doing this because it is very difficult to make sure you align everything right.

Thanks for reading!
This is a dying game. Everything about it is just gaining XP and levels for a stupid cape, it's not about the unlocks. The skills are broken, combat system is dull and repetitive. And the MTX...lol.
