The recent ban on politics is just evidence that the system on bans needs to change. Had we done this sooner maybe political discussion wouldn’t have got banned.

I don't feel the people that got into heated arguments or whatever happened deserved a ban or perm ban. All this is, is the way we debate, argue or disagree, we belittling, we go around in circles, we often want to win, have the last word or argue just for the sake of arguing - threads get trashed and it is really sad - perm ban is not going to stop this.

Maybe some of them had already been perm banned and allowed back on alts

so if the alts had been banned as suggested they wouldn't have been here to engage in the thread and result in the rules changing

A lot of people in threads have got into these type arguments and I have never seen anyone perm banned for it, they have had a few days away ban, often more than not just a verbal warning from a moderator.

I don't know who was involved in this argument, as I have said in a different thread, these type arguments happen all over the forums outside of politics - I am not sure why they are just picking on politics when these arguments break out on many different topics.

they were not banned for those type of arguments on that thread they were banned in the past for whatever reason.

Dunno in political discussions some people will hold a certain view say left and right and they will always hold those views whether right or wrong and defend/attack the other side/their side regardless

so every thread will end up the same with more than likely the same people drowning out everyone else

naturally it is easier to ban the topic than try and moderate them

Ideally it would be a bit like question time with somebody saying that's enough once a number of views have been heard and then moving onto a different topic.

Yes, it needs to be moderated differently <- all topics not just political, religious ones - what you have mentioned Wilf outside of 'right and left views' not budging even if they are in the wrong happens with other topics too, conversations go around and around and you find yourself having to say I am not discussing this anymore, it's just frustrating. They will even come back weeks, months later to start it up again and at times bring in people or alts to side with them. I have to say it's not as bad these days, it has quietened down loads in the last few months to a year with the arguments that use to break out and alts and friends coming in to support it happens very seldom now it's a new era :p shame what happened to politic threads.

I think the routine ban evader who racks up pages of hidden posts should just stay banned on sight maybe for a year. There are a handful who do not change even after their 70 warnings.

Just add a note to their name and account maps. If they start up again just keep banning till they stop. Otherwise leave em alone after a few months.

I recall someone asking for the level limit to be applied to member accounts. Right now its lvl 350 to post as f2p, this is temporarily removed as a member. They should apply this to membership too and that would stop the get out of jail free cards.

People just hop on a lvl 37 account with membership right after a ban. Temp and perma bans have been a joke for years with how many just go right on an alt. I think applying the membership limit would deter most over relying on a jmod being around.

I didn't see that many hidden posts in that Mask/political thread if that's the thread this is about.

Also I have seen far worse behaviours from members of this community - so I feel it's rather biased and ________ driven what is being proposed within in thread.

Severity of the abuses should of course be taken into considerations in the determination of permanently banning all of the abusers' alts.

For example, current and former Jmods, PMods and Fmods should have absolutely no reason not to know the rules of Jagex and the RSOF. If these group of people are found using alts to bypass forum or in game Jagex actions and pretend to be ignorant users/players, they and all their alts should be gone after a warning is issued. Under no circumstance should Jagex harbor and encourage such bad apples who absolutely should know the rules on one hand but intend to disrupt the normal activities of players and the business of Jagex on the other hand repeatedly. Jagex absolutely has the DUTY OF CARE to permanently ban them.
