Would support a reddit-style Upvote/Downvote system for forum threads and replies.

Lol I think we know what will happen when such an implementation goes through, but literally the downvote feature in Reddit is heavily misused and used as a way to bury unpopular opinions, use it as an act of personal distaste of other's posting style even if they ask questions or make a reply that has relevance to the topic :P Unless the community is willing to go that far with auditing downvotes but I don't see how that is simply practical when there's a lot of these.

Idk if anyone already suggested this, but anyway.

Can be only "like" or "like/dislike". What do you think?

No support, it'd discourage people from explaining why they like or dislike something. Currently, you can "like/dislike" via posting a reply that says so, and because of that, you might as well go more in-depth as to why you do that, when you're already typing something (just look at this post of mine for example, and then imagine if I would've just pressed a dislike button - you'd not know why I disliked your thread, you could only speculate).

Reddit is the place to go to if you want simple popularity contests; RS forums though, are more meaningful because you actually have to put some effort into it. > )

Agreed. Also i see this "effort" as being one of the reason ppl like reddit so much.

No support.

If you cbb to explain yourself, might as well not post at all.

I don't think anyone has, so I've moved this thread to the feedback forum for the RuneScape website.

They have, but they just all end up getting locked though.

Nah leave that to reddit.

I mean this is the forums after all and not reddit.

Thus if you want that, go there instead.

I would be for this only in suggestion/feedback forums where it can be useful to gauge interest, similar to the way RuneLabs used to work. A simple 'support' button would suffice. For the rest of the forums? No use bringing one of Reddit's most problematic features here. Low on bank space? Click here .
