This thread isn't here to express your views on bans or moderators. Please make sure when you post, that it's relevant to the topic at hand otherwise you're being more disruptive than contributive.
Hi just dropping in to say I support the idea of a block function, specifically the one proposed by Spearmint30 as I think yours goes a little bit too far Abby, sorry.
If this were to get implemented I don’t doubt that people would return to the forums, as they could effectively silence the nuisances that frustrated them enough to leave in the first place.

Perhaps Jagex can't do anything like that when the UK Online Safety Bill passes and they have the Duty of Care on rights to freedom of expression in their games and forums:
(c) the duty about rights to freedom of expression and privacy
I don't see how hard not to comment on threads you do not want to see responses you don't like.
When we comment on a forum open for general public discussions, we should all have mindset to see comments agreeing and disagreeing to what we think. Otherwise, we should get our own forums and be the sole moderators to allow only the contributors you like to register.
To be fair Dilbert you’re on EVERY THREAD, what if for example (not saying I don’t) someone didn’t particularly like your comments.

There's a not-so-thin line between partaking in discussions, and posting for the sake of conflict. There are, sadly, people on these boards who certainly appear to thrive on the latter rather than the former, and I for one wish there would be some more consistent moderation when it comes to this sort of "shadow trolling".
I used to think a block function was a tad ridiculous too, but I've since come around to actually seeing the benefit of such an idea.
So Jagex recently updated their rules and whilst this is pertaining to in-game communications it at least shows they recognise the issue of people just being annoying whilst not breaking rules. So perhaps there’s hope that they’ll one day apply the same thought process to the forums.
“HOW DO I DEAL WITH ISSUES THAT ARE NOT BREAKING THE RULES?
When playing our games your ‘Ignore List’ will allow you to avoid another player so you won’t see their chat and they can’t get in touch with you. It’s a bit like ‘blocking’ someone on your phone; and is a good way of dealing with players who might be annoying you but are not breaking our rules.”

It is pretty simple, you just ignore it if you don't want to participate. I see references to Biden and Trump everywhere but it doesn't mean I have to care about them at all. Neither is it feasible, if possible, for any business to block every reference to Biden and Trump.
I see your name on almost "EVERY THREAD", as well as certain people keep bumping their posts to the first position of every forum page too. But it is the content I care, not the name so I just participate in what I want to participate and ignore all the other posts not interesting to me.

Found it interesting that they specifically use the word ‘blocking’.
Nothing special at all, as they have in game filter and quick chat worlds already. They already have the "blocking" in the game, but just not in the RSOF yet.
Actually it won't surprise me if the UK Online Safety Act (when it passes) may recommend, if not mandate, forums like RSOF to put up filters. Remember, once we had censors in the RSOF that blocked out heaps and heaps and heaps of words?
