If JaGeX refuse to allow talk about sexuality, gender identity and religion in the main forums due to being 'inappropriate' they should at least provide a separate forum available to all players, which would permit any player to talk about their own values without being blocked out. These forums could have their own designated moderators, and could perhaps have a minimum level requirement of 1000 if spam became an issue. Players would be free to talk about anything on these forums, although spiteful and malicious behavior would be dealt with as strongly as in the game.

that's gotta be one of the dumbest suggestions ever. if they don't want to touch certain subjects then it's their right. they don't want parents of young children to stop their kids from playing this game because people are talking about sex and sexual organs on their forums, some parents don't want their kids to be overly exposed to such topics.

Firstly, I must concede I did not know that straight talk was also banned on the forums, but just because this is a GAME does not take away from the social responsibility JaGeX have towards children playing this game, in terms of offering a safe, moderated environment in which to talk about ALL topics pertaining to sexuality and gender identity.

is it in the terms and conditions that jagex must contribute to 'social responsibility' ?

Nope - and I wouldn't expect it to be. Terms and conditions tend to be a business's way of getting out of any legal responsibility that a problem with their product may incur, not where they set out everything they plan to provide as a business.

Constructive criticism; highly appreciated.
Saying something is dumb because you don't agree; antagonizing, annoying, and pretty disrespectful to a genuine thread.

Also sexual organs??? I said I wanted it to be free to say gay or lesbian on LLF, nothing about this, which I agree is highly inappropriate for a game.

I just find the idea of censoring the word "straight" if gay isn't uncensored silly.

One could make the argument that gay also has an alternate meaning, but really- who uses that definition anymore?

The alternate definitions of straight are far more commonly used.

I think gay should be uncensored, but wanting another word censored if it doesn't? silly.

yes completely forget the fact that I said they don't want to talk about sex. Also if you're going to allow people to talk about transexuals and other stuff then it's pretty obvious some kids are going to ask questions which lead to talking about sexual organs.

use some common sense

Being LGBT, I actually don't mind the topic being banned from the forums. I don't think Jagex is in any way homophobic, I think that the ban is more akin to the reasoning behind banning political and religious debates. Someone always, always , always ,
ALWAYS
takes things too far and these discussions end up as flame wars. I haven't seen a single instance of this not happening, in all of my time using the internet , not just this website.

Agreed, I'm a transgender lesbian and been pushing for this for years with Jagex. I just now got HLF access and it's really just sad that they have these words censored.

I rather tired of the "it's not a place for discussion on the forums" argument or "it's a sensitive issue" argument. I'm not going to even engage those arguments any more because I've been actively changing/fighting legislation in the real world that affects the LGBTQ+ Community and battling out with ill-informed people online is just fruitless battle.

People are afraid the forums are suddenly going to be flooded with LGBTQ+ topics and that's not going to happen. We're a minority and that isn't going to change. You're annoyed now with topics like these? Well, expect to be less annoyed when we're allowed to exist.

I consider this discussion closed. Your move Jagex.
