I both agree and disagree with OP.

LGBT etc are seen as categories that deviate from the norm (aka. straight). That doesn't mean they are anything special nor should they be treated as such, and thus don't deserve anything more than straight people. All these "equality" acts honestly seem more like an effort to glorify themselves. It's exactly why I dislike feminism itself, even though I think the idea behind it is valid. Stop trying to give yourself all this extra attention, you don't deserve it and it will just cause more people to turn away from you.

However, as a vehement supporter against censorship of any kind, I think that there should be some actions that could be considered when it comes to the words themselves. Any word can be a bad word if it's used in a hideous context. People just happen to use these words as offensive labels, which is probably why plenty of these words are censored here. It's more of a matter of misuse than anything. Words can hurt, but only in a certain manner.

Aren't you glad nothing is censored on the HLF? Because I sure am! :)

because it's so fking important that OP tells us he identifies as an androsexual. God/Allah forbid we talk about Runescape on these forums without him first telling us he identifies himself as a common house plant.

The importance of it to you, frankly, is irrelevant.

We're talking about relevance here, not censorship. You don't go to a 5th grade math class and talk about Runescape, do you?

You don't go to a ComicCon conference and ask political questions, do you?

You don't go on a game forum and discuss sexual orientation, do you?

If you've done any of the former, you were likely looked at strangely, ignored, or told to fuck off. I know I've been dropping subtle hints up to this point, but maybe you get the idea now?

This has nothing to do with censorship, and everything to do with relevance and the lack of it; shaking my head in disappointment of the human race.

Yeah, I want special treatment. SMDH. What people repeatedly don't understand is we don't have the same rights or privileges that other people enjoy. And since other people take those privileges for granted everyday they don't even think about them, so when anyone who is a minority brings up the disparity they are immediately seen as trying to cause upset and wanting people to cater to them.

That's not the case at all. I could bring up an entire list of IRL things that matter much more than a silly censorship on a game forum that affects people not just who are queer, but also of any minority. But that would pretty much fall on deaf ears here. This is a simple matter of people who are AFRAID and have these wild ideas as to the apocalyptic scenarios that would happen if a simple chat filter is lifted on the RSOF.

Just because you play runescape, a game, doesn't mean you have the right to talk about your sexuality here.

If you're that desperate to find some place to talk about it google is your friend.

You're right, that's for Jagex to decide, it's their policy afterall. But that doesn't mark the end of this thread as we discuss the policy that should be changed.

Can't we all just agree that it should be punishable by death?

This is why we don't bring up LGBTQ+ issues on places like runescape. It's a magnet for trolls and flame wars.

Being LGBT myself, I don't think it belongs here, it's better left locked away in that same box we save for politics and religion.

100%

It's too much of a hot topic. Let's at least wait until the most of the major countries in the world legalize gay marriage before we start worrying about A FUCKING GAME FORUM.
