Also, thought I'd give another progress update. Last night I found a room that was completing all the G1 key quests and urgent. So I stayed with them for a few hours and unlocked G2! I was still rocking High Rank armor this whole time so I was definitely prone to dying in two hits if I wasn't careful.

The urgent quest from G1 to G2 is a Seregios. Its parts create outstanding armor (G-Rank set; the High Rank set is kinda meh) with great skills for blademasters. So I camped that for several kills and created a full set of its armor. I'm really liking it and now I don't eat as much damage (526 defense currently).

Next, I found people willing to do all the quests in G1 that unlock Wyporium materials. So I also completed all of those.

I'm now at ~150 hours of play time. I enjoy this game too much and at times it's hard for me to put it down.

Next up, I'll probably progress through G2 at a slower pace. I also need to farm some monster parts in G-Rank to upgrade all my dual blades.

So I mentioned the G-Rank Seregios armor set (the armor is just called Regios _____). I have to say that it is an amazing set overall! I don't know when/if I'll actually part with it. I will certainly be maxing out the defense and using it until I absolutely take too much damage per hit (probably late G3 Rank/G-Rank Events).

About the set:

- The armor skills that the full set provides are quite nice (I'll detail them below)
- The armor set itself has 10 slots for gems so you can add more skills
- Great defense for where you are in the game when it unlocks

Skills:

- Constitution +2: 50% less Stamina used when evading and blocking. Allows you to dive-evade towards large monsters and increases your diving distance.
- Negate Bleeding: Grants immunity to Laceration (which is a new status that Seregios inflicts).
- Steady Hand: Same effects as Mind's Eye and Razor Sharp (Mind's Eye - Prevents your attacks from being deflected. Razor Sharp - Sharpness depletion is halved).
- Slow Sharpening: Slower sharpening of weapons (This stinks but you can either gem it out with 3 slots worth of gems or deal with doing one extra stroke to sharpen).

All of that comes with the set by itself! After some playing around with gems and my talismans, I was able to add on these skills as well! :
- Challenger +1: Attack is increased +10 and Affinity +10% when a monster is enraged.
- Partbreaker: Attacks on monsters' breakable parts x1.3. Monsters also wince more often from being attacked.
- Attack Up (S) : Attack +10.

Like I said, armor has 10 gem slots, my favorite weapon has 3 slots, and talisman (which is an awesome Rare 10 talisman) has 1 slot.

Let's just say that I'm very satisfied!!!

I've been playing monster hunter games for many years now, and for MH4U I'm currently a bronze crown expert rank. After getting to that rank, I kinda lost motivation to continue and went back to concentrating on RS, but it would be cool to play with another RS player. I use the great sword and the armour set I have is a combination of g-rank teostra, diablos, and guild armour to give me some pretty op great sword skills. If you want to do a few hunts sometime, let me know. Proud owner of

Are we allowed to exchange Nintendo 3DS friend codes on these forums? If so, I'll give you mine and do you mind giving me yours?

If you haven't read my other posts, I use dual blades. I have 9 of them in total now and 7/9 are at their max upgrade (haven't honed them yet). Last 2 upgrades I need are for my dragon element (not having any luck getting a Gore Magala Mantle) and need G-Rank g.ian/s.los parts for my fire element (which don't exist yet until a DLC quest comes out with them).

Also, mind if I ask your total playtime on MH4U? Since you're a seasoned veteran, you may have breezed through the whole game without much grinding for better gear/weapons. I'm at 194 hours but I just want to compare if I'm super slow or closer to average.

I'm not sure about the friend code swap on the forums, but I'd swap with you in game if you pm me. As for the play time, I can't say mine is completely accurate for many reasons. First off, I usually play with my roommates, and we made an agreement not to go ahead of each other when we got the game lol. So whenever I got ahead of them, I had to go back and redo quests with them and I also helped grind out armour sets for them. Also I like to go online and help out some new players to the game (a lot of HR 1-5) so I've spent some time doing that. Also, I have left the game running at times while I wasn't around.

So it's kinda hard to judge your play time, because I'm sure you also haven't just gone through the key quests to get through the game as fast as possible, you've actually been playing the game how you're supposed to. But, 194 hours I would probably say that is pretty good for where you are at in the game. I'm at 180, but then again, I haven't been trying to get through the game as quickly as possible. I'd say you're doing just fine

I've purchased this and started playing through it with my girlfriend. It's an awesome game to play with your partner if you're in a long distance relationship, especially now with the multiplayer function.

I'd love to whizz through the solo quests but I'd feel guilty

I'm taking things a little slowish still. Grinding some quests for weapon upgrades and such. I have a full set of najarala, Auroros, and seltas. First two being somewhat diverse and the last being an artillery God Gunlance only set thanks to a +8 talisman I found.

My current ~~urgent~~ quest is an Azure Rathalos. I'm probably gonna grind a set out of him like I did in tri, and like how a family member did for me in freedom unite.

Adam, if you don't want to get too far ahead, then check the monster hunter wiki and do all but the very last key quest in your current rank. Doing all the offline quests unlocks quite a few perks and even more urgent quests! Then again, don't you want to be the badass hunter? I don't doubt your friend does too. Who knows, maybe they'd like some healthy competition?

Edit: The NPC dialogue makes every quest feel like an urgent at this point. Serenity Isle, a fun and relaxed clan. click this to see

Been extremely busy with university lately as well as other real life matters. So I haven't really played much in the past month (or two at this point).

Maybe I also burned out by nolifing for the first month and a half lol.

I did check all of the DLC released to date and I'm quite disappointed that they don't have G-Rank Gold Rathian or Silver Rathalos (can't remember which but one of them was released in May). So I have 8 Dual Blades all on the furthest upgrade but still can't get the final Fire element Dual Blades upgrade...

I'm currently rocking a mix of Rath soul and yamato gear

Critical eye +1 (+2 with slotted weapons)
HG earplugs
Fast charge (so fun)

You're in for a bit of an experience then! After you kill a great jaggi, you may be interested in looking up a few guides and secret tips. That is of course unless you enjoy figuring things out on your own. A couple of quick tips though:

Crouch when you carve, it's a little faster.
After you've carved and the quest is finished, grab the nearest gathering point!
Equipment effects do NOTHING unless you have at least +10 or -10.
(For example: attack -9 is fine to have, because it'll have no effect. Whereas hearing +9 will not block any monster roars)
