Only been able to play the demo so far, but that longsword update has me going crazy. I accidently found them by tapping all the buttons to see if something new would happen.

Fade slash into spirit blade is just so satisfying, sadly the demo players seem to always rage quit or just ditch mid quest. They also wake up monsters with a light tap rather than a Barrel bomb L alarm clock! I'm sure that'll change once I'm able to get my hands on a large enough sd card for the game since it's sold out everywhere near me >.<

I really like how you're able to see which quest, if any, is selected before joining a gathering hall.

Ooh, gathering mission? Sure I could go for a relaxing stroll.
*Joins room and instantly noms fish+dairy*
Oh, the person just changed to a capture mission... Alright then.
Lesson learned, do not eat until you know for sure everyone is fine with the selected quest.

Quest start, "dont die dont die," says the glaive user with mixed armor. Take a guess at who nearly died?

Damn, I think I'm starting to sound elitist here. Anyone got a cure for that?

By the way, be sure to check for dlc and claim that free starter pack for the super mushrooms that are used to make some neat palico gear.

^ Nice tips and advice.

Yeah, I hate joining a certain room thinking they were about to farm a certain target, when in fact they forgot to change it.

Also, I've had plenty of situations you spoke of with the "don't die don't die" people. It's always funny when they cart once or twice in a hunt. Oh well. I also might be a little elitist as I usually try to join rooms that has at least one person that has G-Rank unlocked. Or I leave a room when I see someone's defense is way too low for the quest difficulty (like yeah, you're just solely doing keys/urgents and not farming for better armor. Nty triple cart lol).

As a matter of fact, today I unlocked G-Rank online mode! So I have to use Dundorma now for online G-Rank quests as opposed to Gathering Hall. I'm HR46 :-)

I literally just got G-Rank so I'll have to get a new armor set soon. Also, I'm rocking 6 different dual blades that are maxed out to the best upgrades possible in High Rank. So I think I'll attempt more Caravan/storyline quests soon.

Ooo, I can change these auto-messages!
"I mounted it" changed to, "No touchies! get ready!" Sadly, "Sharpen, heal, watch, whatever. Just don't hit it yet," wouldn't fit. If I'm ready, I'll just go stand near where I think the monster might fall and start clapping. :)

Thankfully, a lot of people do listen to those auto-messages. I used to main longsword/lance, but I'm starting to fall for dual swords. I'm going through the game really slowly for some reason. I'm only HR2 with the jaggi swords and the nyec ... the nyekki ... whatever that stupid spider's name is. Capture guru and speed setup is great! Even more so when a crazy overgeared person joins a low rank capture quest.

@Wolvian

i found that everything died in 10-15 minutes with an insect glaive.... but using weaknesses and bombs as well as traps, using a bow takes atleast double, same with most other weapons to... and i refuse to use slime bows =s

I spent the past few days blazing through all key/urgent story mode/caravan quests. So I have now unlocked 10-star quests in Caravan (this is the very last tier). This also unlocked G-Rank Expeditions for me.

Ever since I unlocked G-Rank online mode, I haven't done online since. I didn't want to have overpowered armor (although my weapons are all highest-end High Rank) which would make the solo/offline mode too easy.

I think my next course of action might be doing all the caravan quests that unlock things in the Wyporium for trading different materials. I also want to get my two Palicoes the best gear they can wear (the Mario and Luigi DLC gets outclassed in High Rank so imagine how weak it is in G-Rank).

Maybe I'll do every Caravan quest. I'll probably backtrack a bit and do any Gathering Hall quests I skipped over.

I will also venture into G-Rank Elder Hall (online mode) to get some better armor. My defense is now 356 but I think I need a set that can get me 500+ at this point in the game.

The game has been out a month and I sunk 116 hours into it lol. But there's plenty more to do! I love the game!

Edit: Typo

I've gone and left out something from my story earlier. I did not mean to say that glaives were bad, though I did make it seem like I was. What I meant to say was that it seems everyone that's jumping (heh) to use the glaive has no idea what they're doing at all. I can't begin to count the amount of times I've seen, "I mounted it," followed by the monster bucking that player off while I'm still sharpening. ^ Lol yeah, I've seen plenty of that before. However, not as much lately as I'm always on teams full of G-Ranks :-)

I've gone and completed every Caravan quest from 1-6 star. Also, every urgent. (I have all the way to 10 star unlocked but I'm backtracking to finish every quest that I skipped over).

Let's just say, there is a 'final test' type of quest unlocked when you complete all of 1-6 star + the extra urgent quests that are unlocked. In case if you guys don't want any spoilers, I won't say the specific monsters. But the quest is called "The Caravaneer's Challenge" and boy was it rough. It pits you (in one room) against two monsters at once that are some extremely fast, heavy hitters. When you kill both of them, you face off against a third monster.

Let's just say I knew the best way to tackle the quest and I still died many times (I kept abandoning if I carted already before killing anything yet).

After many, many attempts, I finally completed the quest! And the successful attempt took me 36 minutes! It unlocked a new armor pigment 'rainbow'. If you haven't seen it before, basically your armor fluidly cycles through every pigment nonstop. It looks fairly nice and is a cosmetic way to show off what you've accomplished in solo/offline mode.

Not sure what I'm going to do next. I'll probably do a mixture of completing every 7-10 star caravan quest and working on getting farther in online/elder hall mode. As of my previous posts, I'm still in the same spot (just unlocked G-Rank online).

I have a favorite weapon: Dual Blades (if you couldn't tell from previous posts lol). Actually, I've used them exclusively on MH4U (I tried Insect Glaive and Charge Blade during the demo but that doesn't count). In MH3U, I maybe used a different weapon for about 10 hunts, the rest was dual blades.

It's not that I'm avoiding any other weapon. I really want to eventually give them all a fair shot (and maybe become proficient in two or three more). When I started, I hated how slow you walked with basically every weapon unsheathed and how long it took to sheathe them. Except for dual blades. Also, I view them as a great DPS weapon since you can pull off devastating demon dance combos between monster attacks. You really have to learn monster moves so that you can evade them and attack at opportune times.

What about you guys? What weapon(s) do you prefer?
