All good guesses!

The most searched for term (or phrase) by RS Linkify users on RSOF is...

Vis Wax.

On it's own it owns number one position pretty much every month. And that's not including commonly used variations...

Viswax
Vizwax
Viz Wax
Vis wax CC
^
At least on of those is also in the top 10, giving Vis Wax two top 10 rankings, 1st and 9th. So Vis wax related searches dominate by a huge margin.

Technically "Wax" is the most searched for term.
But in context we can say "Vis wax" is the clear winner.

Interestingly "white" was also in the top 10 this month, Perhaps pertaining to white choccy?

I have another fun fact (A Quoting Fun Fact) but I need to wait until the end of this month so my data is complete.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

What strikes me as odd is that there is no stickied vis wax threads. If they were always on page one of Minigames and D&Ds I could understand that. But the only person to post on them is generally the OP and that's shortly after reset, from then on they slip off page one until the next day.

Surely a vis wax thread fits the criteria to be stickied. I doubt very much RS Linkify users are an exception, surely we are in some ways indicative of forum use.

I guess the whole point of this little exercise is to question why aren't these things taken into account?

The other one being ironman (yes I'm bias) but come on, over a year later and no ironman section yet it's still in the top 10 most searched for topics. A J-Mod (not bashing 'em btw) said iron accounts don't show enough interest in the forums. What?

Okay so that's it for the search terms and my lil rant.

Vis wax deserves a sticky, ironman deserves a forum section. I'll stick to that opinion until I see data that shows otherwise.

Very intersting :O
Didn't expect vis wax to be there

Then again 'dailies' for me are more like 'yearlies'

I guess those who do dailies rarely miss one, keeping the numbers consistently high over the course of the month.

I actually expected to see things related to jagex acquisition appear this month, but nope.

Top 10 is pretty interesting for a small community. I guess since it is fairly new you'd have way higher traffic on people trying to find out information.

I do find it disappointing that we don't even get one forum section for anything ironman, because ironman group bossing is also a huge thing and normal bossers get their own section.

edit: This is only linkify users though? which i would assume it's mostly maxed players that use it. Therefore the sample isn't really representative to the whole.

Yep and that's a very important thing to keep in mind. I only have small samples to work with and mostly from maxed players.

Currently I'm working with a bit over half a million events a month. An event is anything from a page view to clicking an image spoiler. Many of the events only apply to HLF and not across the entire forums. For example how many image spoilers opened doesn't apply to all my users.

So it's not just that my data applies to a small subset of forum users, that data is also not always applicable across the entire forums. So I'm very careful about what conclusions I draw. Keep in mind this month RS Linkify users visited over 200,000 thread pages in non specialist forums. (going from memory here but those numbers should be pretty close). That's the samples I'm working with, far from perfect I know.

However that doesn't mean it's irrelevant, what I can cross reference (looking at my data and observing the forums) seems to fit. So for example I'm confident in saying the amount of ironman searches is greater than the combined traffic of the 10 slowest sub-forums. (I haven't actually done the maths, just an example).

Are RS Linkify users typical of the average forumer? I kind of hope not. But that doesn't mean what we do is so far out of the ordinary that the data has no use. However I don't know how indicative our forum behaviour is. It's all I have though and I make it clear the data is specific to RS Linkify users.

No one should take my data as gospel, all I do share it as best I can :)

These forums seem about 1/4 as active as they use to be in 2014/15 (and I won't even go on about 2013 or 2010-12 if we're talking about LLF), so the point I'm getting at is @Indy, I can't imagine some of the stats Linkify had during those years :p

I would imagine it'd be considerably more "hits" than your Linkify gets now, and especially if you account for the increase in Linkify users (as if you would account for inflation when talking about the cost of something from the past).

Anyways, this was just something I was thinking of while reading the stats you posted :)
